There are many benefits to children reading. It allows them to grow their vocabulary and have a better understanding of their world which gives them the background knowledge they need. It helps them speak, write, read, and listen, all of which are very important. All of this leads to the child growing their cognitive development. Cognitive development is the way a child thinks, explores, and solves problems.

It is very important to stay interested in the book that you are reading, otherwise you get bored and are ready to throw it our just shortly after starting. So, it goes without saying that good literature is important. However, staying interested is not the only reason literature should be good. The reader needs to be given the opportunity to have develop a better understanding of culture, vocabulary, and grow their cognitive development.
