Early childhood educators prepare children for real-life/world experiences that will help them in the future. While children are learning in school, they are also adapting to vocabulary which they will begin to use during their development. It is also important to recognize that children develop around their classroom setup which makes it very important to have a balanced classroom for early childhood learners. Young children tend to have egocentrism and could be unable to realize other people's feelings or emotions. It's important to realize this is apart of the development process.
Children tend to have more of an ego when they are younger because they can not fully comprehend that everything does not revolve around them. This is not their fault. This is simply because their brains are not fully developed yet and they just need to learn the rights and wrongs in life. If you have ever met a child that thinks only he/she has a mom and no one else in the world has a mom, that is a good example. Another example is sharing. Children normally have a very hard time with sharing because their brain is not fully developed or recognize that sharing is a good thing to do.
This video is an example of another part of egocentrism. Children do not realize that things still exist if they cannot see them. This is why babies tend to like game like "peek-a-boo". This can also relate to how children really only think about their life and what they can see or feel. When developing, they learn that things can exist even if they cannot see them and become more advanced.
