Principal Investigator: Dr. Chih-Lun Liu
Dr. Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Applied Mechanics at National Taiwan University. His research focuses on stratified flows, hydrodynamic instabilities, turbulence, internal waves, environmental and geophysical fluid dynamics. He has extensive experience applying a wide range of fluid dynamics and ocean modeling codes to address complex fluid mechanical problems. He is also interested in working directly with model source code.
Dr. Liu’s research contributions have been recognized through several honors and awards, including the CEOAS Wayne V. Burt Award (2022), the CEOAS Student Research Fellowship (2023), and the selection of his work for the front cover of the Journal of Fluid Mechanics (Volume 987, 2024). He earned his Ph.D. from the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University in 2023, followed by postdoctoral research at the Department of Earth Systems Sciences, University of California, Irvine (2024–2026). He joined the faculty of National Taiwan University in February 2026.
