Chicago Actors Collective is a community-driven talent network created by independent casting director Sharifa Hurtault. It exists to help new, emerging, and underrepresented actors be seen and discovered by independent filmmakers working in Chicago and beyond.

This is not an audition or a job board. It is a visibility and connection tool designed to reduce gatekeeping and make casting more accessible.

The collective is open to:

• New and undiscovered actors

• Non-union actors

• Self-represented actors

• First-time performers

• Actors from marginalized or underrepresented communities

If you are serious about acting and want to be visible to indie filmmakers, this space is for you.

No. Professional credits are not required.

Many filmmakers are actively seeking fresh faces and real people. Training, lived experience, and authenticity are valued just as much as formal credits.

No. Headshots and demo reels are encouraged but not required.

If you do not have professional materials yet, you can link to your social media accounts or other video content. Profiles can be updated as your materials grow.

Chicago Actors Collective is not an agency and does not guarantee work.

It is a searchable talent network used by independent filmmakers and casting directors to discover actors for projects. Some roles may be paid, some unpaid, depending on the production.

Your information is used solely for casting and talent discovery purposes.

It will only be shared with filmmakers who are seeking talent through the collective. Your data will not be sold, spammed, or used for unrelated purposes.

The database is curated and managed by Sharifa Hurtault.

Select independent filmmakers may be granted access for casting purposes. Access is intentional and monitored to protect talent and maintain trust.

The collective is centered in Chicago.

Actors outside the Chicago area are welcome to join if they are willing and able to work locally or travel to Chicagoland for projects.

No. There is currently no cost to submit or be part of the Chicago Actors Collective. 

Possibly. Filmmakers may reach out directly, or Sharifa may contact you about opportunities that align with your profile.

Not every submission will result in outreach, but all profiles remain on file for future projects.

Yes. Independent filmmakers looking for casting support or talent discovery can reach out directly.

The collective is intended to serve both actors and indie filmmakers.

You can update your materials or information by contacting Sharifa directly. Updated headshots, reels, or links can be added to your profile. 

The collective is run by Sharifa Hurtault (They/Them), an independent casting director based in Chicagoland.

Sharifa is committed to inclusive casting practices and creating pathways for actors who are often overlooked by traditional systems.

The Chicago Actors Collective is open to adult actors ages 18 and older.

At this time, minor actors are not included in the collective. Parents or guardians seeking opportunities for talent under 18 should contact casting directors or productions directly regarding minor casting.
