The Asia SIGCHI Committee will host a Special Interest Group on Understanding and Overcoming Barriers in Establishing HCI Degree Programs in Asia at ACM CHI ’24. The event will specifically address topics surrounding the following question: “Why are there few HCI degree programs in Asia? ”
We aim for a better understanding of current situations, issues, opportunities, and perspectives around organizing HCI degree programs in Asia. At these events, we will gather specialists and stakeholders (academics, curriculum directors, students in Asia, students from Asia, and people from industry related to HCI in Asia) to contribute their perspectives and opinions. The input will be compiled into a report that will be presented to the SIGCHI Executive Committee and the SIGCHI Global Committee. In addition, it will be distributed to the local SIGCHI Chapters and HCI communities in Asia.
