Chipping Sparrow — Feb 22, 2015 11:48:58 PM
Brown-headed Cowbird — Feb 22, 2015 9:44:28 PM
- I have to say - these birds are a fairly unwelcome sight in the early spring. They arrive in massive flocks, and empty bird feeders as fast as they can be filled. Does not play well with others.
American Crow — Feb 22, 2015 9:42:37 PM
Wood Stork — Feb 21, 2015 11:58:45 PM

- I typically see the Goldfinches start to show their breeding colors in January.
Greater Roadrunner — Feb 1, 2015 9:24:56 PM
- Spotted infrequently on the back roads around the house. Most often seen darting across the roads headed for the woods.
Great Horned Owl — Feb 1, 2015 9:24:23 PM

Mourning Dove — Feb 1, 2015 9:19:45 PM
Inca Dove — Feb 1, 2015 9:18:47 PM
Eastern Bluebird — Dec 31, 2014 12:26:49 AM
- Spotted a couple today mid-morning. I don't see them here every year - so I was excited to have them visit!
Red-Bellied Woodpecker — Dec 14, 2014 4:27:55 PM
- I'm seeing these birds with increased frequency. Perhaps they are of but a few that are happy about all the dying trees :-(
Bald Eagle — Nov 23, 2014 5:35:54 PM; October 13, 2019 5:15 PM
- This is my first eagle sighting here at my place. I only spotted one - high atop a dead tree. Beautiful!
- Just spotted another single eagle out at the pond!
Black-bellied Whistling Duck — Apr 20, 2014 1:36:02 AM
- Today is the first time I've seen these ducks here. They were perched atop a standing dead tree. There were two pair - sighted in the morning hours. Cool!
Wood Duck — Feb 23, 2014 11:45:20 PM
- An infrequent site on my pond - but I love it when they visit. They are a beautiful duck!

- Spot these on my pond fairly frequently. I usually see 2-3 pair together.
Great Blue Heron — Feb 23, 2014 11:41:44 PM
- This guy hangs around my pond - and gets very grumpy and vocal when I invade his privacy. Common visitor - but I will only see one or two in proximity of one another.
Crested Caracara — Feb 23, 2014 11:39:13 PM
- Sighted with a group of vultures in a ditch. Fairly common in this area.
American Robin — Feb 23, 2014 11:34:05 PM
- Always a welcome sight - since it means spring is right around the corner!
Downy Woodpecker — Feb 23, 2014 11:31:20 PM
- I caught this little guy eyeing the peanut butter feeders today.
- I see one or two of these with some regularity - as long as I keep the peanut butter in supply.
Painted Bunting — Jul 18, 2013 12:53:34 AM
- Sighted: male and female pair
- I have been seeing these pretty regularly every year. Usually only a pair or two. They seem to prefer the mixed seed hanging feeders.
Tufted Titmouse — Apr 28, 2013 11:47:11 PM
- Intergrade primarily. Year round resident.
Eastern Phoebe — Apr 28, 2013 6:04:45 PM
- Year round resident.
- I have a pair that build a nest on the ceiling fan on my front porch and raise two or three broods there every year. Nest building began this year in March.
- 2018: I've had to take the ceiling fan down - so I'm disappointed not to be able to watch them raise babies every year. I was hoping they would move to the large covered deck out back - but they seem to not like any neighbors, and the Jenny Wren's love building their nests back there.
Rose breasted Grosbeek — Apr 28, 2013 5:50:47 PM
- First sighting! Spotted a male feeding from sunflower seed flat feeder.
- Very few sightings of this bird since the first observation.

- Common yearly visitor - although the numbers vary year to year. They come twice per year - Spring and Fall.
Northern Cardinal — Apr 28, 2013 5:44:17 PM
Black Vulture - May 5, 2019 9:00 AM
- These are common in this area and should have been on my list long ago. In 2019 - I found a couple of eggs on the ground in an uncleared area behind the house. I was able to watch them hatch and eventually fledge. It was fun to witness!
- I was very excited to see this pair come back again in April of 2020 to nest again. They successfully raised 2 babies this time around.
Wild Turkey - May 3, 2019 6:30 PM
- Very rare actual sighting - but I hear them before dawn off in the distance pretty often.
