Graduate Students:

Jihye Choi: I am from Bucheon, South Korea, and a second-year graduate student in Psychological Sciences. I am interested in prejudice and stereotypes, and I am particularly interested in the role of morality and justice in shaping and maintaining prejudice and stereotypes - where things that are usually considered good or evil meet. I am thrilled to study how this shows up in the brain as well! It has been an exciting journey to explore my research questions with huge support from Dr. Dickter and lab members. I love traveling, hiking, but also my room and YouTube.

I'm Adriana Lopez, a current master’s student in William and Mary’s Psychological Sciences program, originally from Houston, Texas. I am primarily interested in researching neurocognitive functions of the self, specifically cognitive correlates of self-perception and self-esteem to get a better understanding of who we are and how we can perceive a better quality of life. When I'm not in class or working on research, I love to swim, travel, and read a good book.

Undergraduate Honors Students:

My name is Sarah Lage and I am a rising senior from Richmond, Virginia— majoring in psychology and minoring in Russian language and literature. I am currently completing my honors thesis on the effects of defendant physical attractiveness and the degree to which the crime committed violates gender-role stereotypes on guilt attributions and punishment harshness. My primary research interest involves the intersection of social psychology and the law, though the bulk of my research experience concerns eating behaviors and resilience in parents and young children. Outside of the lab, I enjoy writing for Газета (Gazeta), William & Mary's student-run Russian newspaper.

My name is Yvette Bivins-Sanchez and I'm a junior from Alexandria, VA. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. I've been a member of the lab since Spring of 2019 and I've enjoyed working with my peers and mentors while getting a variety of research experience and learning lab based skills. I'm mostly involved in the studies concerning Privilege & Confronting Racism and Cultural Competence Awareness/Development. Outside of the lab I am a caller for WM Phonathon, regularly volunteer at Williamsburg House of Mercy, and I love "Criminal Minds"!

My name is Hannah Khan and I'm a junior from Reston, VA. I am majoring in psychology with a minor in religious studies. I've been working for the lab since Summer 2021, and I've really enjoyed the collaborative experience of working in Dr. Dickter's lab. Outside of the lab I am the president of W&M Knitting Club and I love dancing!

Undergraduate Research Assistants:

Ogechukwu Okoli: I’m from Virginia Beach, VA. I’m a pre-med studying kinesiology with a public health concentration. Outside of research, I’m involved in club volleyball, volunteering at the local juvenile detention center, and working as a pharmacy technician. I’ve worked in the lab since January 2019, and I’ve been heavily involved with implicit bias studies that utilize EEG. I love working in this lab because it is incredibly collaborative, and Dr. Dickter gives us the opportunity to have significant input on what we study and how we go about it.

My name is Kendall Lynch, and I'm a junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity and Justice. I've been a member of the lab since the fall of my sophomore year, and I've really enjoyed getting to learn about the research process and having lots of hands-on experience (especially with EEG!), even during COVID. Outside of the lab, I'm also a Confidential Advocate at The Haven and the Vice President of Recruitment for Panhellenic, and I'm a big fan of "Survivor"!

Elyssa Kancherla: Hi! I am a sophomore pre-med student from Martinsville, VA and I joined the lab Spring 2022. As a research assistant, I have had the opportunity to help collaborate with fellow lab members on projects concerning hate crimes, implicit biases, and the psychological impact of exposure to racism. Being a part of this lab has served as a great learning experience, both from Dr. Dickter and other students in the lab. Outside of the lab, I play rugby and enjoy watching “Criminal Minds” and “Grey’s Anatomy”!

My name is Lily Dines and I am from Arlington, VA and majoring in Psychology here at W&M. I am incredibly excited to get the opportunity to work and learn in a research lab environment. I am especially interested in social and abnormal psychology and outside of the lab I am involved in Campus Rec, the Wellness Center, a social sorority, and Pointe Blank Dance Company!
