I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. I study the ability of remote sensing to track vegetation's ability to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Using signals from space that respond to:
the quantity of vegetation on the ground,
the chlorophyll available in the leaves of that vegetation, and
how light is used by leaves
we can better understand how plants use the light available to them to remove carbon from the atmosphere.
