I am an Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong. Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Indiana University Bloomington, under the supervision of Professor XiaoFeng Wang. I received my Ph.D. degree at the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where I was advised by Professors Wei Zou and Kai Chen.
In general, my research interests are to discover and understand critical security issues in systems and networks through AI/ML techniques, especially using NLP to predict vulnerabilities, and then to design and provide solutions to mitigate these risks.

[Sep 2025] We are delighted to welcome Xue Zhang to our team as an MPhil student. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Her research interests focus on 5G security, with a particular emphasis on discovering implementation vulnerabilities arising from ambiguities and flaws in technical documents. We look forward to her contributions and future achievements!
[Sep 2025] We warmly welcome Jiatao Cheng to our group as a PhD student starting this September. He received his Master’s degree from Sun Yat-sen University and will be working on mobile security analysis from documentation.
[Sep 2025] We are pleased to welcome Wei Yi as a visiting scholar to our group. He is currently a PhD student at Xidian University under the supervision of Prof. Jin Cao. During his one-year visit at HKU, he will be conducting research on 4G/5G security, focusing on vulnerability discovery in the core network.
[July 2025] Excited to serve as a Youth Editorial Board Member for Cybersecurity (2025–2027), a reputable journal led by the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. I’ll do my best to support its growth and engage with the global research community.
