Noncollinear spin pattern presents distinct physical propeties in contrast to their collinear counterparts. Exchange forces, including Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interaction and Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosida (RKKY) interaction, reduce the configuratioin energies among spins in a noncollinear alignment, stabilizing spin textures such as spin spiral (1D), skyrmion (2D) and Hopfion (3D). These spin structures introduce tunable symmetry breaking on top of the crystalline structure, raising novel emergent phenomena, such as topological Hall effect and nonlinear optics.
