Postdocs
Interested postdocs should inquire directly at yifancheng@vt.edu with a CV and a brief statement of your research interests and background and contact information for three references. Please also state what your professional goals are, and what you would like to learn, specifically, while working in the group (CNL).
Graduate Students
Graduate students should apply directly to the VT Department of Food Science and Technology. As a general rule, I plan to recruit 1-2 PhD or MS students annually. Exact projects will vary and are determined by mutual interests and funding situations; but for 2023-2024, topics of particular interest include polymer coating synthesis, enzyme immobilization, AI-guided material discovery, and food safety engineering.

Undergraduate Students
We welcome undergraduate students to join CNL! Undergraduate students looking for research opportunities for pay or credit can also email yifancheng@vt.edu with their interests and any relevant coursework or research experience. Or, directly reach out to graduate students and postdocs in the group whose interests match your own.
Visiting Scholars
We provide opportunities for visiting scholars to work in CNL. Ideally, scholars will visit for at least six months. If interested, please email yifancheng@vt.edu.
