Postdoc Positions
We have one opening for a postdoctoral researcher in scientific AI for materials discovery and development. The financial support will up to 2 years.
Required Degree:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
Required skills:
Multiphase and multiphysics modeling for melting and solidification
Microstructure modeling for hard materials, e.g., ceramics and metals
Knowledge of the data-driven modeling
Experience in in-situ and ex-situ data for physical model calibration
Extensive experience in conducting research on scientific AI for advanced manufacturing.

Ph.D. Positions
Multiple fully-funded Ph.D. positions are available in the lab of smart manufacturing and smart materials at the University of Maryland, College Park in the area of scientific AI and advanced manufacturing. Our research concentrates on the development of Scientific AI architecture and its applications for the design of smart materials, and data-driven multiscale and multiphysics modeling for AM. In the lab, you will have the opportunity to build up your own AM platform and develop AI model for smart manufacturing of metal and ceramic materials.
Required Qualifications:
A B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field.
Broad Knowledge in machine learning, computational mechanics, and constitutive modeling.
Skills in Pytorch, Tensorflow, C/C++, and MATLAB.
Experiences in multiscale and multiphysics modeling
Knowledge of metal additive manufacturing, microstructure evolution, and design optimization for AM
