FAQ
The Basics
Q: AM I INVITED?
A: Yes! You don't need to live on Chenery to attend the Block Party. All of our neighbors are invited!
Q: ARE YOU ALLOWED TO BE DOING THIS?
A: We are! We are doing this in collaboration with Neighborfest and the City of San Francisco! They applied for the street and live music permits for us and are providing us with barricades to block off the street.
Q: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
First, to have fun and create community in this slice of Glen Park. Second, the mission of Neighborfest is to help neighbors build relationships that can be drawn on during times of need (earthquakes, severe weather, pandemics!). We love that safety can be a byproduct of fun.
Street Access
Q: WILL ACCESS TO CHILTON STREET & BURNSIDE STREET BE BLOCKED?
A: No! The city-provided barriers will be placed on Chenery, on the west side of Chilton and east side of Burnside.
Q: CAN PEOPLE PARK ON CHENERY STREET ON OCTOBER 8TH?
A: We are asking folks not to park on Chenery between Chilton and Burnside between 11 am and 6pm on the 8th. We will notify everyone in that zone that this is coming in the weeks prior to the block party. We'll also post notices and put fliers on cars 3 days in advance.
Q: WHAT IF I LIVE ON THIS SECTION OF CHENERY STREET AND NEED TO COME & GO DURING THE BLOCK PARTY?
A: We will have volunteers at the Chilton and Burnside barricades who will move the barricades if cars need to access/leave their house during that time.
The Fun Stuff
Q: I WANT TO BE INVOLVED! HOW CAN I HELP?
A: E-mail Karla Robertson at karlarobertson@gmail.com - there are so many different ways to take part and we appreciate them all!
Q: WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR THE POTLUCK?
A: Whatever you want! Although we don't want a table full of cookies, so maybe just chat with your neighbors to see if you can coordinate.
Q:CAN I GRILL?
A: You can! On your own property. No grills allowed on the sidewalk or in the street. But you're welcome to open your garage and set up there.
Q: A PET COSTUME PARADE YOU SAY? WILL THERE BE PRIZES?
A: Of course! Get those furry and feathered (and scaled?) friends decked out in their best Halloween costumes to show off to their neighbors!
Q: A BOUNCE HOUSE! I LOVE THOSE! CAN I GO IN?
A: It's free and open to all kids. Grown-ups just get to watch :)
