Hello and welcome to the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates at Virginia Tech! My name is William Clarke and I'll be your President for the 2018 - 2019 academic year. I am a Junior pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with double minors in Chemistry & Mathematics. I joined the Chapter in Fall 2016 and have relished in my time with our wonderful members ever since. In Spring 2017, I was elected Historian and served for the 2017 - 2018 academic year. I've spent a long time operating on the Executive Board and planning new initiatives to help our members develop academically, professionally, and personally as aspiring leaders in Chemistry. I encourage our members to take advantage of the many opportunities our organization has to offer, including lab experience, plant tours, professional development seminars, exclusive introductions to research, volunteer / outreach experience, and great friends to help pave your way to success through college. So come to our next meeting, be heard by a community of students who respect you, and make your mark on Chemistry as a leader. Hello! I’m a sophomore in the College of Science hoping to graduate with a B.S. in Chemistry. I originally joined the club solely because I wanted to meet more people interested in chemistry, but I ended up volunteering when I could, taking tours of buildings, learning about green initiatives in the community, and more. Perhaps one of my favorite memories was exploring Goodwin Hall and seeing the remarkable mechanical engineering behind it.

My favorite aspect about the club is that all the members are focused on the community and helping each other grow professionally and inwardly. We plan many events, from outreach to tours, and all members, including those in majors not even remotely related to Chemistry, are encouraged to participate.

Hey there, I’m Alisa Bondar. I’m a Junior double-majoring in Biochemistry and Russian. My life goal is to become a cardiac surgeon, hence I’m currently preparing to take the MCAT in the winter. Along with my courses, I will be doing research for the Biochemistry Department this semester and am also the Vice President of Russian Club here at Tech! I’ve also had the chance to become a Certified Nurse Aide this summer. Besides being a nerd, I like to watch Grey’s Anatomy, work out, and shop. See you soon at our next meeting!

Historian - Patrick Finley

Hello! I am Patrick Finley and I am the Historian for this upcoming year! I am currently working towards a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. I joined this organization in the Fall 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed the dedication to Chemistry and sharing it with our surrounding community that our members have. Whether it be planning the first ever American Chemical Society Student Affiliates conclave for nearby colleges or helping local elementary school students discover the wonders of chemistry, I've enjoyed it all thanks to the fun community this organization has fostered! As the Historian, I am excited to see current and new members at events keeping this drive alive, and - in accordance with my position - cannot wait to capture these memories to show new and current students why our organization is so great!
