Advanced modelling and simulation of needle insertion into soft biological tissues using continuum mechanics and finite element methods. Our work captures large deformations, nonlinear tissue behaviour, and needle–tissue interaction mechanics relevant to medical devices such as microneedles and endoscopic tools. These models help optimise needle geometry, insertion angle, and force requirements while minimising tissue damage. The approach is validated through physics-based formulations and experimental insights where applicable.
