Best Work for Citizenship and Responsibility

I volunteered at multiple places this school year. One of them at Amistad Academy Middle School tutoring 8th graders in math, one at Big Brothers Big Sisters helping kids with homework and playing games and activities, and one at Strong Elementary where other students and I painted children's faces as apart of raising money for one of their students who has cancer.

Reflection

This is my best evidence because in all three of my volunteer locations it was me giving up my time multiple time during the school week to go be with kids and tutor them or just generally have fun with them but it would never feel like a drag, I really enjoyed it.

This work demonstrates my strengths in this competency because I would be working with children younger than me, of different races and ethnicities and I would have to help them with their work, teach them new things, or just show them a good time. Each time I would volunteer I would show compassion to the kids I would tutor letting them know that it's okay to need a little help sometimes. At BBBS I would play games with my little, help them with any homework they had, and then after than just have a fun time with them and at some point, they get comfortable with you and its satisfying.

My next steps for developing this competency in the future are to make my volunteer experience as wide as possible, I want to get as much experience as I can, especially with kids.
