After a childhood dabbling in running, I became a full fledged distance runner in 2003, focusing on marathons. I have run several marathons, in 14 different states, including the prestigious Boston Marathon 6 times. I remain an avid runner, and have stepped away from marathoning in favor of the shorter road race distances. I have coached the Cheetahs since 2017, and love how our club has grown over the years. I truly believe running is a lifelong pursuit and I enjoy seeing kids find motivation and work ethic through running.
I’ve always enjoyed running from when I started track in middle school as a sprinter, to senior year when I transitioned to the X-C team, and then during all the adult ½ marathons, full and beyond races that I’ve run. However, what I enjoy as much or more is being part of a team and motivating athletes to be their very best on and off the course. I spent 6 years supporting D1 and D3 athletes and now with young children I’m thrilled to be working with youth athletes. A few of my favorite running memories include:
1997 X-C season- the year I fell in love with distance running
2010 Charlotte Marathon- my 1st marathon and I ran it with my husband Peter, his 1stmarathon as well
2019 Boston Marathon- what an honor to run this historic race
2022 Cheetah Nationals- 1st youth running national event I’ve attended and I was so inspired by the runners.
This is my 3rd year with the Cheetah Running Club. My background is in teaching health and physical education K-12. I love helping the kids discover the benefits of movement and being outside, watching them progress through amazing feats and seeing them grow into the team they become every year. Excited for another amazing season!
Running has been a passion of mine since I was in 8th grade! I was a team member on my high school cross country team and have continued to run in my adult years by competing in several road races from 5k’s to half marathons! This will be my 5th year as a Cheetah Running Club coach and I really enjoy motivating all of the runners and watching them grow as young athletes!
