Lead Cheer Coach welcomes and addresses Cheer Team members (incoming and outgoing) and Cheer Team parents and guests. For JV and Varsity respectively, lead Cheer Coach announces selection of team members who then proceed individually onto the stage and have a Cheer pin awarded to them. Individual members remain on stage until full team has been announced and pinned. Team and individual photographs are taken. The Pinning Ceremony is also a key opportunity to pitch membership in the Cheer Booster Club. Presenter needs to coordinate time and timing with lead Cheer Coach. Objective is to plan for a tight, focused ceremony to enable maximum participation with minimal impact to those Cheer Team parents who need to proceed to work following.
WHAT: First-of-the-season event at which incoming Cheer Team members are formally named by Cheer Coaches.

WHERE: When possible to hold in-person events the Pinning Ceremony is typically held in the WHS Cafeteria. During COVID the event was held remotely via Zoom with Cheer Pins delivered separately.
WHEN: Traditionally scheduled early in the week immediately following RRISD Cheer tryouts on the prior Saturday. The ceremony has been scheduled early in the morning prior to start of classes to facilitate participation by Cheer Team family members.

FINANCIAL NOTES:
Booster Club provides light breakfast - typically doughnuts & muffins, fruit (tray(s)), milk, juice and coffee.
Planning budget has historically been $7.00 per head.
Budget for Table cloths (plastic throw away is fine - orange/black) and decorations. It's a celebration for all that made the squads. The girls really appreciate this.l
PLANNING AND PREP NOTES:
Confirm date and time with lead Cheer Coach
Coordinate booking of WHS Cafeteria, facilities set up and AV equipment
Making of Cheer pins
Differentiated by JV and Varsity respectively
As brokered with lead Cheer Coach coordinate with Varsity Spirit Leader - that individual normally assumes lead for design of megaphone badge and recruits Cheer Team members to assist in making of Cheer pins
In 2023, members of the Booster Club, led by Ruth Gray, created the ribbons for both squads
Prior to 2023, the Booster club outsourced the lettered ribbons:
