Chee-Hang See is a prize-winning Singaporean pianist, conductor, and composer who has been described as "a cool and confident performer" by the Charleston City Paper. Following his appearance at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, CharlestonToday.net lauded his "absolute clarity" and "refined dynamic range," noting how he brought "gorgeous contrasts to each section," and Fanfare Magazine recognizes him as an "expert and sympathetic collaborator."
Chee-Hang has performed at concert series and festivals globally, including the Internacional Festival de Colonia (Uruguay), Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Musicale (SC), and Chicago Duo Piano Festival, among others. He has performed as a soloist with the Montevideo Philharmonic (Uruguay), the Charleston Symphony (USA), Bela Bartok Orchestra (Italy), and Toa Payoh West Chinese Orchestra (Singapore). His debut album, "Violin Transcriptions," featuring works by Rachmaninoff and Muczynski, showcased his interpretive depth. Collaborating with trumpeter Antonio Marti, their CD "Spanish Journey" earned a Silver Medal in the Global Music Awards 2022 and a broadcast on NPR's Performance Today.
Chee-Hang is artistic director of the Remington Concert Series in Mt. Pleasant, SC. An avid chamber musician, he performs as Sandberg-See Duo with his wife, violinist Nina Sandberg, and they have won the Boosey and Hawkes Score Video Competition. Furthermore, his collaboration with Malaysian pianist Amy Tan in the Tan and See Piano Duo has enchanted listeners globally, earning praise for their infectious energy and musical camaraderie. He has also performed regularly with Chamber Music Charleston, Holy City Arts and Lyric Opera, Charleston Symphony, and the Astralis Chamber Ensemble.
Chee-Hang has taught at the Charleston Academy of Music (where he founded and conducted its New Music Ensemble) and the Chicago Duo Piano Festival, where his students have gone on to earn prizes in local and national competitions. He continues to teach both online and in person in multiple countries.
Chee-Hang holds degrees and diplomas from the Cleveland Institute of Music, College of Charleston, Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and studied under Sandra Shapiro, Enrique Graf, and Wong Joon Hwang. His compositions, ranging from small ensembles to orchestral works, have premiered in Singapore and the U.S. Beyond the piano, Chee-Hang is an accomplished erhu performer, holding a Performance Diploma from the National University of Singapore while studying under Zhang Yuming. He is represented by Price Attractions
