INFORMATION WE COLLECT
If you only play against the computer or pass the phone back and forth, Checkers collects no personal information at all. Your settings and statistics stay on your device.
ONLINE MULTIPLAYER
Online multiplayer needs a little more, and only while you are using it:
An anonymous player ID. When you first open an online game, the app signs in anonymously with Google Firebase. This creates a random identifier for your device. It is not linked to your name, your email address, or any Google account, and we cannot use it to identify you.
A display name, if you choose to enter one. It is optional. If you do not type one, the app makes one up (for example, "Player 4821"). Whatever name is used is shown to the person you are playing against.
The room code and the state of the game you are playing - the position on the board, whose turn it is, and the moves made.
There is no chat in this app, and no way to send anything to another player except your moves and the name on your seat.
ADVERTISING
This app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings under Google > Ads.
DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
Settings and statistics are stored exclusively on your device, and uninstalling the app removes them.
Online games are stored in a Google Firebase Realtime Database in the European Union (europe-west1). A game is deleted when it ends or when you leave it, and in any case no later than six hours after the last move. Nothing about a finished game is kept, and no history of who you played is ever built.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Google AdMob (Google LLC), for advertising.
Google Firebase (Google LLC) - Anonymous Authentication and Realtime Database - used only for online multiplayer.
Please review Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details on how Google handles data.
REPORTING ANOTHER PLAYER
If someone chooses an offensive display name, you can report them from the menu in the top right of an online game. This opens your email app with the room code and the name already filled in.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
This app is intended for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
YOUR CHOICES
You can play the entire game - against the computer, or with a friend on the same phone - without any data leaving your device. Online multiplayer is entirely optional, and nothing is sent until you open it.
