Grades are determined by the number of points you earn completing assignments throughout the class, not by a percentage of points assigned by Canvas. The assignments provide opportunities to develop your understanding of the content presented in the course. It is your responsibility to keep track of your points in the course to make sure you are earning the grade you want to earn.
In general, the turnaround for grading is within two (2) weeks of the due date. Late submitted assignments may take longer to grade. Discussions and Learning Logs will usually be graded within one (1) week of the due date.
All assignments in the course are graded using a Grading Rubric. The rubrics are available before you submit an assignment so you can see what I am expecting. The assignment rubrics are located below the assignment directions. The discussion rubrics are linked in the 3-point drop down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the discussion box. Please review the grading rubrics and any comments I have made before emailing me about your grade. This way your questions can be specific to the feedback I have already provided.
You can view your cumulative grade by clicking the Grades link in the left column of the Canvas home page. Grades for an assignment only show up after I have finished grading all of the submissions for the assignment.
After an assignment is graded, you will receive an email notifying you that there is a grade and/or comments to view. For every graded assignment there is a grading rubric that provides more specific feedback about why you lost points. I will also provide feedback either within the grading rubric, or below the rubric as Comments. Please be sure to review the grading rubric before contacting me with any questions.
Please contact me through Canvas Inbox, Pronto, or Cerro Coso Email (LFULLER@cerrocoso.edu) if you have ANY questions about an assignment, submission for an assignment, your grade, feedback, the grading rubric, or points on an assignment.
There may be some extra credit/bonus points options, but they are limited in point value. They are intended to supplement, not replace, regular participation and submission of assignments. Canvas does not record extra credit points accurately, so remember your final grade will be determined by the grading scale and the total number of points you have earned, not necessarily by the percentage/grade Canvas lists.
In general, I do not accept late work. The discussion responses cannot be submitted after the module they are discussed in class. Think of the discussions as attending an in-person class session - you can't make up a missed day, or module in the case of this online course. Some assignments have more flexibility, just contact me ahead of time in order to arrange late submissions on assignments.
