My Grading 

**My practice and expectations for regular effective  contact and grading are:

 That you will complete your assignments by the dates indicated in the syllabus and on Canvas, and that I will respond and comment, including grading, within 1 week of your on-time submission.  I will comment through replies to your Journal and Discussion assignments,  messages on the website,  through Canvas Inbox and through comments on your individual Grades through the Grading Rubric. If you do not earn full credit, the Grading Rubric will indicate what was missing, after EACH assignment is graded.   If you want to improve your work and your grade, you then have 2 weeks from the due date of the assignment to do so.  Late assignments will be subject to delayed grading, and will be reflected in your grade total for the assignment.    I will review checking the Grading Rubric during the Zoom Orientation.  You can also check on the Student Tutorial  for a reminder.  If you are struggling, communicate with me right away, and ask for an individual Zoom meeting, providing three optional dates and  times to set up an appointment, when you can be on the computer.

Carefully read all the criteria in each assignment, and assure yourself that each element is present in each assignment to ensure that you earn the maximum number of points possible.   To receive the maximum points for ALL assignments, you must do BOTH:  provide evidence of your increasing knowledge by citing the textbooks or other resources like videos or handouts AND use examples from your own experiences that demonstrate your understanding of how to apply this knowledge in your personal and/or professional life.  You must post to other students on EVERY assignment.  What and to whom you post varies with the assignment

APA Writing Standards required for all reports and group assignments.  NOT required for journals and discussions.  Remember that your online entries should reflect these standards.

You will be expected to refer to different Ages of Infancy, even if your personal or professional experiences are with one specific age, or with older children.  If you use examples of older children that does not let me understand if you know the age we are studying. Because children who are older than 36 months are at different developmental stages, sometimes the same strategies work, and other times they do not do so. The purpose of being required to refer to the age we are studying is so that I, as your instructor, can determine that you are learning the course content for newborns, babies, and toddlers, and not three year olds.
