Sculpted & Soaring Skyward offers visitors a rare chance to explore five unique private gardens in Chapel Hill. These gardens showcase diverse visions of beauty, preservation, sustainability, and design.
Witness stunning spring blooms, majestic trees, and rock formations on the National Historic Register. Explore a certified wildlife and butterfly sanctuary, a soothing Japanese-inspired design, and a plant collector’s paradise. Learn from knowledgeable experts at each location.
Don’t miss the North Carolina Botanical Garden, its affiliated Carolina Community Garden, and the American Indian Cultural Garden.

Plantsman Tony Avent (Saturday 10-3) and Orange County Master Gardeners (Sunday 10-4) will be in the King Garden to answer horticulture questions.
UNC Geology professor Dr. Kevin Stewart (Saturday 12-2) will be in the Gourley Garden to explain the geology of “the Rocks” in downtown Chapel Hill.
New Hope Bird Alliance to sell bird houses in Huckshorn Garden (Saturday/Sunday (10-4).
An Ikebana display will take place in the McGraw Garden (Saturday/Sunday 10-4).
Leaf and Limb (Saturday 10-3) will provide tips on tree care in the Allison Garden.
The Buddha Bee Apiary (Saturday 10-3) will be present to share beekeeping methods in the Allison Garden.
A guided QR code tour of the American Indian Cultural Garden will be availble to tour attendees.
Guided tours of native plant displays will be provided at the NC Botanical Garden (Saturday/Sunday 11 and 2 pm).

Chapel Hill's horticultural history is deeply rooted in this garden exhibiting rock formations, impressive trees and interesting artifacts. This tree is the Pecan Tree - Carya illinoinensis.

Japanese influences are reflected in rock formations, plant selection, and the restrained use of ornamentation. The garden is designed to provide an harmonious, serene experience.
The Community Garden is a volunteer-run program providing fresh, sustainably grown fruits and vegetables to UNC employees. The Garden also serves as an educational hub for students, staff, and community members to learn gardening, healthy eating, and social responsibility through hands-on work and community engagement. UNC staff, faculty, students and community members are all welcome to volunteer.
AIGC celebrates Indigenous cultures and ecological knowledge. It features culturally significant plants, a medicine wheel, a ceremonial circle with a fire pit, and outdoor classroom areas. This garden serves as a teaching tool, gathering spot, and place to affirm Native identity.
