The block is adjacent to two districts, Nayagarh and Cuttack district. The land is mostly cultivable and the outskirt adjacent to Nayagarh District has hilly terrain. The areas are well connected by black top roads with a few out reach villages. The population comprises of Hindu & Muslims with a sizable population from the vulnerable community. Primary health care delivery to the people of this Block residing in 212 Revenue Villages is catered through Two CHC, 6 PHC(N)s & 23 Sub-centre. The Block is divided in to 5 health sectors for primary and secondary health care.
