So, I'm having major problems editing. I can import fine, and edit fine, but any clips I play in Premiere Pro are playing in fast forward with choppy audio. I've looked online, but it's really hard to find any results when the issue has to do with speed, all I get back are "How to speed up or slow down clips" but the clips are fine, after export things play normally, it's the actual Premiere Pro player that is the issue. The only people I've seen with this issue online seem to have fixed it in the Audio Hardware preferences, but none of them actually say what they did to fix it, and I haven't found anything in it that fixed it. (Switching from MME to ASIO seemed to fix the play speed, but then I had no audio at all)

AGH! You are AMAZING! Why did this work?? I just updated to v15 because 14.9 was causing issues with choppy playback, but then I was met with new trouble with this crazy fastforwarded/choppy playback. So far it looks like your advice has solved my issue, but why? It seems like I keep running into issue after issue like this with the updates. Anyway, thank you for coming to the rescue for all of us!

That totally worked! I was freaking out, trying to figure out what happened! But doing as you said and going into Preferences did the trick. I will add one thing...the REASON it happened it because I added a Logitech Webcam to use with another program. I guess that when I installed the web cam Adboe Premiere decided that should now be my Input, and that's how it got flipped in my settings without me doing anything myself. I NEVER would have figured this out, but now that I realize that this issue (fast forwarded playback) only started after I plugged in the stupid webcam (which has audio as well obviously).

But sometimes I want to know if a particular merge is going to resolve via fast-forward before I run it. I realise that I can in theory work it out by digging through the history tree. And I also realise that I could run the merge and see what happens, but this becomes problematic if I then decide I would prefer for the merge to be resolved in the other way, as I have to undo the merge (by repointing the branch tags in the ref-log) and do it again.

Summary: git merge-base --is-ancestor tests whether one commit is an ancestor of another (where commits are considered to be their own ancestors, which is a particularly weird form of incest, perhaps :-) ). Since a branch label can only be fast-forwarded by git merge when the current branch (HEAD) points to a commit that is an ancestor of the other commit, we can use this to determine whether git merge could do a fast-forward operation.

Fast-forwarding is the exact opposite of rewinding, in which tape, music, etc., are moved backward at a user's discretion. In either operation, because of sound distortion, volume is usually muted or severely reduced.

Analogue VCRs provided fast-forward by simply playing the tape faster. The resulting loss of synchronization of the video was accepted because it was still possible to make out approximately what was happening in the video to find the desired playback point. Modern digital video systems such as DVR and Video on Demand systems use 'trick mode' to present an apparently faster stream by only displaying selected frames.

Unlike analogue video streams in which only serial access is possible, digital video allows for random access to the media, which raises the possibility of alternative fast forwarding algorithms and visualizations.[2] In video streaming formats, such as H.264, fast forward algorithms use the I-frames to sample the video at faster than normal speed.[3] In streaming videos, fast-forward represents a useful search or browsing mechanism, but introduces extra network overhead when non-I-frames are transmitted in addition to the viewed I-frames and extra computational complexity in the video transcoder. Finding more network bandwidth-conserving and computationally efficient algorithms for accommodating both fast-forward and normal speed viewing is an active area of research.[3]

When fast-forwarding is used as a search mechanism (sometimes called a fast-forward video surrogate[4]) in video libraries, the question arises as to what is perceptually the best fast-forward strategy for effective browsing. The main trade-off is between the fast-forward speed and the ability to understand the video. One study concluded that a 1:64 ratio surrogate (that is, show one frame out of every 64) allowed most participants to perform adequately on a range of tasks related to video understanding.[4]

Fast-forwarding videotapes and similar is familiar enough for metaphorical uses to develop, e.g. "The court doesn't want to know about your aunt's bad hip. Fast-forward to when the fight started."

Got it I can see I can fast forward with a song on demand but would like to be able to fast forward let's say I look up Tu Pac and play station like you said want to be able to fast forward within any track.

Still not added in 2022. Need to have the ability to scroll forward during streaming station and increase audio quality to 320kbps, not 192... Spotify offers both of these things. I don't like Spotify but it sounds better so I listen to it more often and pay for it rather than Pandora. I was a fan for a long time, but you guys got some catching up to do.

Sounds good! Hopefully these issues gain some ground. I know I've been on reddit and seen the same complaints brought up for a while now. I enjoy Pandora, but I think it has some catching up to do in those areas. Don't change anything else lol. I love the layout and offline mode stations as well as downloads. I just want better quality and skipping forward

Hi All, I have this issue since 2 days. My macbook is connected to my tv through an hdmi cable and whenever I want to stream a movie, it plays fast forward like x 30. this happens only if the audio is set on the TV. If I set the sound again to macbook, this problem disappears. How can I fix it?

We have never used streaming services so Peacock is our first one. Its free so why not! I can pause programs but can't find a way to fast forward. It seems inconceivable that any feature these days would not have the capability to do that. We are watching NBC shows on Peacock that have already been aired which is wonderful because ON Demand charges for them...boo hiss on that. Is there some trick to do fast forwarding or reverse? Thanks

I have no problem fast forwarding/rewinding shows. There are six speeds in each direction - 2, 6, 12, 24, 48, and 96x normal.

What are you watching that won't let you fast forward/rewind? I know that some services (not just Peacock) don't let you do it with newer episodes of shows, because they want you to watch all of the ads.

How do you expect Comcast (owners of Peacock) to make money from a free service if it can't show ads? Trust me; there is nothing new, or limited to Comcast or Peacock, about this, although usually it is limited to newer episodes of shows. And at least there's some ability to fast forward; some services actually disable all fast forwarding just to make sure you watch the commercials.

How do I expect them to make money? That cracked me up and I hope you are kidding. Having been a customer for over 30 years where do I start? I will only say one thing....they raise rates and take channels and features away mostly without notice.

We were not watching newer episodes on Peacock and its very limited to what it offers as far as seasons. What is the logic of program freezing while using FF by the way since you have no clue where you will land? Speaking of commercials, Comcast gave us the ability to fast forward using page-up to skip ahead. Its kind of a hit or miss pain but its a workaround for those networks who won't let us use FF. So bottom line is that is usually a way to avoid ads without just leaving the room...lol.

First thought it was 'nice' of Comcast to give us Peacock since they own NBC but now I am not so sure it was really a 'gift'. I find it awkward at best. Only using it because everything is on hiatus due to COVID and may never be back so we are watching our faves in past seasons or at least as far back as Peacock will let us go.

I have a Roku Ultra. I don't see the steps to fix the problem of my remote not scanning forward or backward in YouTube. It just stopped scanning 2 days ago. I have to keep pressing the remote instead of simply holding it down. It's a pain.

History has taught us that the leaders who succeed are the ones who meet the needs of the future by moving forward. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, we need forward thinkers, doers, builders, changers, movers, leaders. Because right now, only 15% of the SDGs are on track for 2030. We must be more ambitious.

Ambitious corporate action starts here. These 5 areas of action have been selected because they have the power to accelerate progress across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and are where the private sector can collectively make the biggest, fastest impact by 2030. 589ccfa754
