ChatVault AI (hereinafter referred to as "the App," "we," or "us") is designed with a Privacy-First philosophy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our application.
1. Data Collection: Zero External Collection
We operate on a strict Zero External Data Collection policy.
No Account Required: We do not require you to create an account, provide an email, or set a username.
No Servers: We do not operate any external servers to store, process, or transmit your chat data.
No Tracking: We do not use analytics trackers, fingerprinting, or third-party marketing SDKs to monitor your behavior within the app.
2. How Your Chat Data is Processed
Your imported chat files and messages are treated with the highest level of confidentiality:
Local Storage: All imported chats, media, and index files are stored exclusively on your local device within the app's sandbox.
On-Device AI: Semantic search and chat summaries are processed locally using Apple's NaturalLanguage framework and on-device machine learning models. Your messages never leave your device during these operations.
Enhanced Summary (Optional): If you choose to enable the "Enhanced Summary" feature for very long chats, the text is processed using Apple Private Cloud Compute. Your data is encrypted end-to-end, is not stored by Apple after processing, and is not accessible by ChatVault AI or any third party. You must explicitly activate this feature.
OCR / Text Recognition: Any text recognition performed on images is done locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
3. iCloud Backup (Premium Feature)
If you choose to enable iCloud Backup:
Your encrypted chat data is backed up to your personal, private iCloud account.
This sync is managed by Apple Inc. under their privacy policy. We do not have access to the content of these backups.
You have full control to delete these backups at any time via the App Settings or your iCloud Storage Management.
4. Third-Party Services
The App does not send any data to third-party APIs except in the following strictly controlled scenarios:
Apple Private Cloud Compute: Used only when you explicitly toggle the "Enhanced Summary" feature.
File Sharing: When you choose to export a chat as a .txt or .zip file, you are directing the app to save this to your Files app; we do not intercept or monitor this exported data.
5. Security
We utilize the iOS Keychain to store your app lock passcode, employing PBKDF2 encryption with a random salt. This ensures that even if your device is compromised, your passcode remains secure.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
Because your data never touches our servers, you retain 100% ownership and control.
Delete Data: You can delete any imported chat or the entire app at any time. Deleting the app from your device will erase all locally stored chat data.
Manage Backups: You can delete iCloud backups directly from your Apple ID settings.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.

By downloading, accessing, or using ChatVault AI (hereinafter referred to as "the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. License Grant
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device that you own or control. This license is for personal, non-commercial use only.
2. Premium Subscriptions
The App offers a Free tier (limited to 1 chat import) and a Premium tier (Unlimited imports, AI features, and iCloud Backup).
Premium subscriptions are billed weekly, monthly, or yearly through your Apple ID.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings.
3. User Data and Responsibility
Ownership: You retain full ownership of your chat data. The App does not claim any intellectual property rights over your messages.
Accuracy: You are responsible for ensuring the integrity of the .txt or .zip files you import from WhatsApp or other applications.
Export Files: It is your responsibility to delete the original export files from your device's Files app if you wish to remove them after import. The app provides an optional "Delete Original" feature, but you are ultimately responsible for your file management.
4. AI Functionality Disclaimer
On-Device AI: The AI Smart Search and Summaries are generated by algorithms that analyze text patterns. These are tools for organization and retrieval; they are not 100% infallible and may occasionally misinterpret context or generate summaries that miss nuanced details.
Not Legal/Professional Advice: The AI summaries are provided for informational and organizational convenience. They do not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice.
Enhanced Summary: This feature sends your text to Apple Private Cloud Compute. By enabling it, you consent to this secure off-device processing.
5. Third-Party Disclaimer & Trademarks
WhatsApp: WhatsApp is a registered trademark of WhatsApp LLC, and Meta is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
Affiliation: ChatVault AI is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC, Meta Platforms, Inc., or Apple Inc. (except as a standard App Store provider). This app only processes export files that users create themselves using WhatsApp's built-in export feature.
6. No Warranty
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will preserve the exact formatting of your original chat logs. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChatVault AI shall not be liable for:
The loss of data due to device failure, uninstallation, or user error (we strongly recommend using the iCloud Backup feature for critical chats).
Any damages arising from reliance on AI-generated summaries or search results.
Unauthorized access to your device or iCloud account (you are responsible for your device security and passcode).
8. App Lock & Passcode
You have the option to enable an App Lock. If you forget your 6-digit passcode, we cannot recover it for you due to security protocols (PBKDF2 encryption). You will be required to delete and reinstall the app to reset it, which will result in the loss of locally stored data.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever, including a breach of the Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
