When you're in a path, in the upper left is a CONFIGURE button. Press that and the menu will expand. Inside that menu are options to allow you to change and configure the current path.
The initial configure menu contains all paths visible at the current level. You can change and reorder paths by tapping on them or by dragging the row to the order you desire.
When you tap on a path, you can edit the name and picture. The + icon in the lower right lets you add a path below this specific image, allowing you to build a hierarchy of paths for your kids to navigate.
From the main screen, open the dropdown from the upper left, or swipe right to open the drawer. Then tap "Switch Users". From there you can add a user.
When configuring a path, select the "auto-sort" tab to automatically rearrange the paths based on usage.
If the path order gets too biased, open the overflow options in the upper right and select "reset -> path order" This will reset the usage count of the paths back to zero so you can have it relearn what's used most.
Yes! Pretty much all pictures can be modified by touching the image. A dialog will display showing you the available options when you do so,
Yes, when you tap on a path image to edit it, a dialog will display an option to reuse an image.
Not yet. We did try this experience out and found that the flow was not that great. There's permissions that need to be enabled if you want to keep your photos accessible outside the app and not everyone is comfortable with that. Android has been improving on permission controls a great deal. Our general thought is if we don't need to request permissions, less is best.
If you want to speed things up we recommend the following:
For 10 minutes or so, go around like the paparazzi and take pictures of everything you want to build a path for. The native camera app is great for this and we don't have to build in controls to see if you want to retake the picture.
Go into ChatPaths and start adding paths! Because you're not switching between apps for every picture you take, this process will go really quick. Add a picture, add a name, then repeat. It feels somewhat clumsy right now having to leave the app just for adding one picture, but we'll eventually add it.
In case you're wondering technically what's going on, we're trying to avoid in the app requesting more permissions than are actually necessary to accomplish the task and balancing those hoops with other technical priorities comes down to what is most important right now, since there's only so much time in the day...sadly. We love working on this app! 😀
Not at the moment. There's an additional level of effort required to support bi-directional synchronization and transporting media between the devices. There's also storage, compute, security, and cloud costs. We'll keep our ears out for requests to support this and will adjust based on demand.
