Charting Substellar Worlds: Atmospheres, Formation, and Future Tools for the Next Decade of Discovery

Purpose of this meeting: This upcoming decade represents a transformation period for substellar science. With current flagship observatories such as JWST, built on the legacy of Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer, and future observatories like the Roman Space Telescope, Extremely Large Telescopes (ELTs) (e.g. GMT), and the Ariel mission, we stand at the cusp of major advances in the study of brown dwarfs and directly-imaged exoplanets. Now is a great time to get come together to discuss a wide range of substellar science topics, to assess what we are currently learning, and chart a path of where we'd like to go.

There is $500 USD registration fee. Through a generous grant from the Heising-Simons Foundation and Dr. Jonathan Fortney (Professor and Chair | UCSC Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics), this registration covers lodging, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snacks/coffee breaks at a beautiful location on central California's Monterey Peninsula.

This invite-only workshop is limited to 50 people.
