Why do you do all your work by hand? Wouldn't a machine be easier?
I've been sewing by hand for a long time now and honestly, I just enjoy it more then my machine. Sewing machines are noisy, bratty things and I like the peace of hand sewing. It's therapeutic for me too, and I want to show people that in order to make really cool plushes you don't need a sewing machine. It takes longer for me to finish plushes as a result but I trust the quality of my hand stitches 120%.
How long does it take to finish a plush?
Depends! 100% new custom plushes can take weeks to months to develop. Large plushes can take that long too. Small palm sized plushes tend to be faster but even then it can still take days or weeks!
When will commissions/shop be open?
When I feel like it, life has many ups and downs so when I'm comfortable working on custom plushes or I'm ready to add plushes to my shop I'll post on social media when it will happen. I'll also add an event under the "Events" page so you can see in my calendar!
Why use fleece and not minky or felt?
Minky is a really expensive fabric and I already have a much loved and established collection of fleece that I love working with. I sometimes use felt but it's usually for a plush's props, such as a sword or frying pan, since it has a bit more stiffness then fleece.
Are there pieces you will use a sewing machine on?
Yes, I usually only use my machine to make the 4 ft long scarf parts of plush scarves. I'm not really skilled at using my machine but I can sew a straight line, so that's the one type of plush product I'll use a machine for. Even then all the plush parts and details on those scarves are sewn by hand.
Do you have any pets? Do they get all over the plushes?
I do have pets! We have three cats and a dog, but none of them are allowed direct contact to my plushes. Each plush gets a "bath" with lint rollers to remove any hair/thread scraps before heading to their forever homes.
