Sustainability

Want to learn more about how YOU can implement more sustainable, earth-friendly practices into your own life? Check out the infographics below that I created on a variety of areas where we can improve!

Resources to live an imperfectly sustainable lifestyle

I'm a true believer in progress not perfection, if everybody worked towards implementing eco-friendly practices into their everyday lives imagine what a difference we would make! We don't all have to keep all of our garbage in a mason jar from the past five years, but we CAN all take steps in the right direction and help lessen our negative impact on the planet collectively.

I Tracked My Trash For A Week

Have you ever wondered just how much trash you produce?

Data shows that the average throws away 4.4lbs of trash daily. 728,000 tons of garbage are produced daily across the US. As someone who is on a journey to creating less waste, I challenged myself to track all of my waste for a week.

7 days worth of trash. Staring with what appeared in the trash the most.

  1. Tissues

It's winter and the winter sniffles are in full swing. Auditing my waste led me to realize just how many tissues I was reaching for daily.

How could I improve on this?

Using a reusable handkerchief that I keep on me could easily eliminate the production of waste by tissues.

  1. Tea Bags

Single-use tea bags came in second for the amount of waste I created in seven days.

How could I improve on this?

Reusable tea steepers and loose leaf teas could easily replace my single-use tea bags.

  1. Gum Wrappers

I have yet to find chewing gum in bulk but at the end of this week I concluded this was an unnecessary form of waste for something I really didn't need.

How could I improve on this?

I could stop chewing gum all together as it is just a habit when I have it on me. I have noticed if I do not buying gum then I do not reach for a piece of gum.
