I study tropical ocean-atmosphere coupled processes:

• how the transfer of energy, freshwater, and momentum across the air-sea interface affects the tropical upper ocean and lower atmosphere

• how ocean-atmosphere communication affects the frequency, intensity, and organization of convection

• how well these processes are represented in climate models.
