Top Slice
A top slice is used to look into a technical aspect of my project that I will be looking into further.
A technical aspect of my marketing campaign I will be using print adverting. This would be making a poster or magazine or a physical advert. Creating something like this would be made using Photoshop which is a form of software I have not found easy to use. For my top slice I will be creating a mock up poster design just using pictures of off google (since I have not researched into what my work will actually be so far) .
This is my top slice photoshop mock up. I have not used Photoshop in over a year and even the last time I used it, I will have done a small task. With this in mind I have a long way to come with the use of photoshop for making a poster. This was my first attempt in which the quality is basic, it is extremely easy to have made (yet I found quite difficult) but it is a good first outline of what I could make and the style I need to follow. Whilst creating my top slice, I familiarised myself with where to find specific tools and the controls needed to move layers, enlarge layers ect. Over my research I will most likely look further into how to create posters.
Milestones
Milestones are used to ensure that I achieve the aims and objectives I set out to complete within my work. Setting milestones measure my progress and I am able to easily reflect and alter my workload to complete what I need to to meet these aims.
One of my aims that I have set out was that I want my advertising and marketing to be realistic and influential. I can refer back to this throughout my EPQ by cross examining with actual music marketing campaigns and seeing the similarity's. I can also gain constant feedback to find out if consumers would be interested in the campaign. I could do this by putting it on social media and seeing what engagement it gets.
Two of my other aims were to constantly improve my work and also to get better at my editing skills. I can work on these so that the quality of my work is high and also so that I am meeting these milestones. These two aims are best paired with action research as I can practically work on them. If I learn that I have not met these milestones I am able to go back, look at my feedback and alter them until it is correct. This then again would help me frequently meet the milestone of aiming to update my work so that it is better.
A way of ensuring these milestones are definitely met would be creating an action plan which outlines all of my necessary steps in my EPQ. An action plan tells me by what dates and time frames I have to do things and the order these tasks go in. This is my action plan in the layout of a gaant chart.
Research plan
Having a research plan is important as it can outline what I will need to do and how long I will have to do it.
