'Patchbay Neighborhood Sound Lab' is a station where people of all ages and abilities may gather to play music together; to learn and share skills in music technology and creative expression; to discover new ways of listening; and to experiment with music and sound in a supportive environment.
Charlie co-runs the space with clarinetist and composer C. Olivia Valenza. Together they lead creative audio workshops, collective sound improvisation, and outdoor concerts. Patchbay's programming privileges skill sharing, modular workshop structures, widely accessible tools and affordable technologies all in an effort to decouple musical education from expertise fetishism, defang our predilection for genre and style, and facilitate equitable pathways to sonic discovery.
