Chaptr Privacy Policy

Chaptr ("we", "us", "our") provides a shared planning and memory-keeping app for couples. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided by that service) to create and manage your Chaptr account.

Content you create

• Lists and list items you add (titles, notes, locations, website links, tags, priority)

• Memories you create (photos, dates, locations, written stories, ratings, moods)

• Your relationship start date and any profile details you enter

Partner/couple information When you pair with a partner using an invite code, both accounts become linked. Content added by either partner is visible to both partners within the shared couple space.

Subscription and payment information If you subscribe to Chaptr Premium, payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to verify your subscription status; RevenueCat receives an anonymized purchase token and your app account identifier, not your payment information.

Automatically collected information We may collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app crash/error logs to help us maintain and improve the app.

Advertising (future feature) Chaptr does not currently show advertisements. If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, obtain your consent before sharing data with advertising partners.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account

• Sync shared content between you and your paired partner

• Process and verify subscription purchases

• Provide customer support

• Maintain, secure, and improve the app

• Communicate with you about your account or the app, where necessary

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

• Supabase — for account authentication and secure data storage

• Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In — for authentication

• RevenueCat — for subscription management

• Apple App Store / Google Play Store — for payment processing

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the information they process on our behalf.

4. Data Sharing Within Couples

Chaptr is designed for two paired partners to share content. Once paired, any content either partner adds (lists, items, memories, photos) is visible to both partners. Please be mindful of what you choose to share within your shared space.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or regulatory purposes.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you

• Request correction or deletion of your data

• Withdraw consent for certain processing

• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

7. Children's Privacy

Chaptr is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data storage and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection laws. We take steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection wherever it is processed.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, through the app.
