In the second project of the year we focused on climate and the effects farming has on it. We visited local community farms who use sustainable farming practices. These six farms students then worked with to identify specific needs they had and that we could help with.
These specific projects ranged from helping designed an educational planter box areas with Encinitas Farm Lab, to redesigning a community garden at Coastal Roots Farm , working on renovating an aquaponics lab for Solutions Farms and signage for local farm stands for Solidarity Farms and Cal State Pantry.
Students worked to design based on the specific needs of each community partner and each team worked closely to make sure all the community partners' needs were met. We used BaseCamp to organize and manage our projects, with students being in charge of assigning work to each other.
Unfortunately the project was cut one week short, with no exhibition due to the COVID-19 closure of the school. However the project work is still ready to complete when we are eventually allowed back into school!
