Pay your Fees! This is the link for the Athletic Fee for Cross Country this year. It is $250 If there are any issues, let a Coach know. Thank you for your support. Click here to pay your Athletic Fee.
Bookmark and Save our gaMileSplit page to your devices, this is where you find race day info and results. (You should also find yourself on MileSplit and "claim" yourself.)
Download “STRAVA”...distance runners only. It is free. Create an account (that is appropriate for school) and join our running club. CHHS Panther XC. This is our page: www.strava.com/clubs/chhspanther When you run, it will track your progress and coaches will use the data to help train you. Ask for help if you need it. We MUST know your mileage! Grownups...you absolutely can join as well. You just aren't required.
Get New SHOES! This is the most important piece of equipment used in running and shoes MUST be replaced Every Season! Runners need at least two pairs of shoes per season. One pair for practice and one pair for racing. (Get one or two great pair of training shoes first!) If you have questions, ask a coach. We don’t want you to waste money, but we also don’t want you to get injured. If you have never been to a “Running Store” to be fitted and try out several brands, we highly recommend it. The Big Peach Running Co. has several locations and will be at several of our cross country meets. WATCH THIS video on Choosing A Running Shoe: https://youtu.be/Y8lIFxCE5Ro
Get A Watch! Distance Runners are required. You must get a watch! It must have “stopwatch” capabilities. Lap counter is even better. It doesn’t have to be a Smartwatch. Academy, Walmart, Amazon, etc… have great watches. Coach Wilson’s watch was $30, does everything you need for running, and it never goes dead.
Turn in All Forms and return to a Coach. You can find all the forms at our website HERE. If you need a printed set, ask a coach.
College Student/Athlete registration: If you possibly want to compete in College Sports, or just want to keep your options open, you must register with the NCAA, NAIA, and/or the NJCAA.
For NCAA, everyone should start with "Option 1"... it is FREE! If you want to try and attend a Division I or II school, then you will need to choose "Option 3"... it is not free. https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/ Learn more at: ncaa.org
For NAIA, there is a one time fee and only one option. https://play.mynaia.org/ Learn more at: www.naia.org/landing/index
For NJCAA, visit the site: www.njcaa.org/eligibility/index Learn more at: www.njcaa.org/compete/index
If you would like to have help with the process, there are MANY options. Here are a few popular options. (Again...these aren't free) 1. NCSA.org, 2. CaptainU.com, 3. SportsRecruits.com, 4. AthleticScholar.net
For more information on sports after high school, check these out to educate yourself on the different divisions and options. www.collegepipe.com/divisions / www.ussportsscholarships.com /

Check your PHYSICAL! If you need to download the form you can go to Our Website Here.
Things to bring to every practice. 1. Water Bottle, 2. Watch/phone, 3. Running/training clothes and shoes.
If you cannot attend in person, you still have practice every day, on your own. You will always need to warm up, then go through plyos (new runners practice them several times), then get your run in according to the amount you’d run if you practiced in person.
If you have to miss practice, TELL A COACH BEFORE PRACTICE!!! In person...Email...Remind...Text...Phone Call. ANY of these work!
Drink Water! Drink Water! Drink Water! Just like running or kicking or pitching, you have to PRACTICE drinking lots of water. You also have to monitor your intake so you know, without a doubt, how much water you are drinking. If you are getting headaches or not feeling well after practice or meets, most times the reason is related to dehydration! Cramping (or stitches) in legs and sides of torso are also many times because of a lack of water and/or electrolytes. YOUR BODY will tell you you're hydrated when you pee clear, once before lunchtime and once after lunchtime (the after lunchtime may be before bed…but it needs to happen). And NO, it doesn’t have to be completely clear. A minimum of 70 oz of water must be consumed before practice…which means you wake up, go to the bathroom, then drink a glass of water to start your day. Athletes WILL carry water with them to every class. You need something that you can monitor your ounces. It can be an old Gatorade bottle or big water bottle from a gas station…not a small 12 oz water bottle! You WILL drink something with Electrolytes in it after practice. (On hot days, before practice) It can be a quality Sports drink, OR my suggestion is buy mix packets online or on sale somewhere! It is WAY cheaper than tons of bottles of Power-Aid, Propel, etc…
Videos on eating and nutrition. Start to incorporate some new, running superfoods into your diet. The first is "Top 11 Superfoods" from the GTN channel: https://youtu.be/TH0Jjzw2EqA The second video is by one of the greatest distance runners...Mo Farah! https://youtu.be/fjZRuFhyjZw
If you notice your shoes are rubbing or slipping, or if you just want to try tying your shoes differently before you go and buy another pair of shoes, (unless you are still using old shoes) watch this video and try tying your shoes using the "Heel Lock''. https://youtu.be/jHJ61XrqcCk
Some running YouTube Channels you should check out and save. MileSplit, FloTrack, Global Triathlon Network, Vo2maxProductions, The Run Experience, and The Running Channel.
Video on How You Run. This is another nice video for both new runners, and veteran runners alike. Please watch: https://youtu.be/3RlvKMxPMr0
Be sure you are taking a Multivitamin appropriate for teen boys or girls. Get one that includes a good percentage of Vitamin D! For the girls, be sure it includes additional IRON. As always, consult with your personal doctor if necessary.
As always, be safe while running & Hydrate all day long...7 days a week! You must train your body to drink the amount you need.
Go Panthers!
