2018 Camping Trip

The 4th annual camping trip to Algonquin Provincial Park

We rented a cottage, packed our skis, snowboards, cross country skis, and snowshoes, and hit the road for a weekend at Mont Tremblant.

We've been back on the water for a couple of weeks now for this 2018 season. There has already been some excitement at the club with the wind storm destroying one of the boats and the new dock. The dock is expected to be fixed, but the boat is done for.

(October 3, 2017) This year we decided to step it up a notch and add some portaging to the route to the camp. We stayed on Little Island Lake (which is actually a big Island with a little lake). We had a day of pretty intense rain for an entire day and had move tents out of forming pools of water and had to start a fire in the rain just to keep warm. Other than the rain day, it was a pretty perfect trip with lots of good food, friends and fires.

(July 19, 2017) What a weekend! The GWN Sport Regatta was our first real test of our training efforts as this is the first race of the season. We finished with a win in the B Final and we had a first place finish in the 500 meter, a second in the 200 meter and a first in the 2000 meter. We're very happy with our results and we can't wait to race again in the coming weeks. Next up, the Woodstock Dragon Boat Festival. #mldb #chaosdbc #racing #gwnSportRegatta

Last night, another practice session had to be canceled because of the high water levels and high winds. With water levels above the breakwall now, anytime the wind picks up from the South, the waves come in unobstructed.

This evening was suppose to be the first practice in Toronto of the season, but mother nature had other plans for us. Yup, those are two dragon boats completely submerged. Looks like the club has a little less frontage these days too.

A frosty morning for our team run and workout! Looking forward to getting to Florida training camp in just 3 weeks. Bring on the heat!

Spring is coming soon and Florida training camp is coming even faster. Time to hit the gym.

(August 10, 2016) Placed 8th overall in the 500 meter distance and 6th in the 2000 meters at the Woodstock Dragon Boat Festival. What a fun day!

(July 5, 2016) Here are all the pictures from the 2016 Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival that we participated in. Good weather, and good racing made for a great weekend.

Thank You Ottawa

(July 5, 2016) Thank you to all the organizers, volunteers, vendors and everyone else that makes the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival a success. The weather was beautiful and sunny and the racing experience we picked up this year was educational. We didn't place where we expected to finish this year, but we're going to take away all the lessons learned, apply some changes to our training and with some practice, make the team better. Overall, we finished in fourth place in the C division with a respectable time of 2:11:13. Thanks to all the teams in our division for providing us with some very stiff competition. There was a total of 1.6 seconds between the first and eighth place teams in the heat.
