My name is Chao Gu (谷超). I was born in Xi'an, China.
I received the Ph.D. degree in cotutorship between the University of Cagliari (in Electronics and Computer Engineering) and Xidian University (in Control Theory and Control Engineering) in 2022, co-supervised by Prof. Alessandro Giua and Prof. Zhiwu Li.
I was a Postdoctoral Fellow from 2022 to 2023 at Kyoto University, Japan. I was also previously a visiting researcher at the University of Le Havre Normandy (France), Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), and Osaka Metropolitan University (Japan).
I am now a Research Fellow in the School of EEECS at Queen's University Belfast, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, working with Dr. Nikolaos Athanasopoulos and Prof. Seán McLoone.
Beyond research, I maintain a sustained engagement with music performance. I have played the clarinet since the age of 9 and earned the Grade 9 Amateur Clarinet Certificate issued by the Central Conservatory of Music (China).
My repertoire preferences include the Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Clarinet Concerto in B-flat major by Karol Kurpiński.
News: I played the clarinet during the closing ceremony of the 23rd IFAC World Congress in Busan, South Korea. I had a great fun collaborating with musicians (as well as researchers and engineers) from all over the world! 🎵
