Chankya ("we", "our", or "the app") is a school management application designed to help students, teachers, and
administrators manage academic activities. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use the app:
Account Information:
- Username and password (used for authentication only; password is never stored on device)
- User role (Student, Teacher, or Principal)
Student Information:
- Name, roll number, class, batch, photograph
- Email address, mobile number
Academic Data:
- Attendance records
- Assignment submissions and grades
- Fee payment history and transaction records
- Timetable and class schedules
- Certificates and achievements
- Teacher feedback
School Information:
- School name, logo, and contact details
- Event announcements and notifications
Technical Data:
- Device authentication token (stored securely on your device using Android Keystore encryption)
- App usage logs (in debug mode only, never in production releases)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected solely to:
- Authenticate and identify users within the app
- Display relevant academic records to the appropriate user
- Enable teachers to record attendance, assignments, and feedback
- Enable administrators to generate academic reports
- Send school notifications and event updates
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics services, or any commercial purpose.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored on our secure server hosted on Render (render.com)
- All communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS encryption
- Authentication tokens are stored on your device using Android Encrypted Shared Preferences (Android Keystore)
- We do not store passwords on your device
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party
5. Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active in the school system
- When you log out, authentication tokens are deleted from your device
- Account deletion requests should be submitted to your school administrator
6. Children's Privacy
This application is used by students who may be under the age of 13. We collect only the information necessary
to provide educational services and do not use this information for any commercial purpose. Parents or guardians
may contact the school administrator to request access to or deletion of their child's data.
7. Permissions We Request
The app requests the following device permissions:
- Internet access — required to connect to the school server
- Storage access — required only to upload photos and download PDF reports
- Network state — required to detect connectivity and show offline messages
8. Third-Party Services
The app does not integrate with any third-party advertising or analytics services. The backend server is hosted
on Render (render.com). You can review Render's privacy policy at render.com/privacy.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data the school holds about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data by contacting your school administrator
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The updated date will be shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the app
after changes constitutes acceptance.
