I am a postdoctoral researcher at Boston College, working with Yi Ming on the physical mechanism of high-impact weather systems on various spatiotemporal scales. I apply theories and diagnostics to observation, reanalysis, and climate model simulations (from idealized to comprehensive) to understand extreme weather. Previously, I earned my Ph.D. at Seoul National University where I worked with Seok-Woo Son.
When I step away from research, I enjoy driving and exploring the scenic places of New England with my wife, Seoyeon Kim, and a lovely dog, Chestnut.
In June 2026, I will be joining the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) as an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and the International Arctic Research Center (IARC).
