Most likely, you're soft bricked, and you'll see something like the image above. While the differences in how various devices work make it hard to come up with a catch-all solution to unbrick Android, there are four common tricks you can try to get yourself back on track:

Chances are, you already have most of the tools you need to unbrick your phone. They're the same tools you used to root your device and flash ROMs, so you should already be familiar with how they work. Even so, double-check before you begin.

And finally, some manufacturers use special software to flash factory images. Hopefully, you can avoid doing this, but if you need to, you can use Odin for Samsung, the LG Flash Tool for LG devices, or the ZTE Unbrick Tool if you've got a ZTE device. Just make sure that they support your specific model of device.

The best Xposed modules are so easy to install---many of them are available in the Play Store---that they lull you into a false sense of security. It's unlikely anyone makes a Nandroid backup before installing a new Xposed module, even though they can brick your phone.

The Nandroid backup is the safety net for Android mods and tweaks. It's a complete snapshot of your phone---not just your data and apps, but of the operating system itself. So long as you can access your custom recovery and have a Nandroid backup, you will be able to get your soft bricked device up and running. To do so:

A Nandroid backup can also save the day if you had to wipe your data and didn't back it up in an easily restorable form. It's possible to extract specific parts of a Nandroid, so you can restore your apps and data without needing to restore the operating system as well.

If your attempts at unbricking Android have failed so far, the nuclear option is to re-flash a factory image. This restores the phone to its original state and will wipe your internal storage as well as everything else. It'll also unroot your phone.

First, make sure the phone really is bricked---plug it in and leave it charging for a while. Attempt to reset it by holding the power button down for 10-15 seconds (or pulling your battery if you've got an older device). You may also want to try plugging it into your computer, you can be pretty sure that your phone is hard bricked if it is not detected by your PC.

If it is definitely hard bricked, then you may be out of luck. A few phones can be revived with a USB Jig, a tiny device that plugs into the USB port and puts the phone into Download Mode to reinstall the stock firmware.

I am not sure why, but I recently got the urge to play a brick-breaker style of game. I've never done much mobile gaming so I was curious if there were any good games of a similar style out there? Thank you!

Howdy! So, like many others, I woke up with a system update pending for my V60 (firstly, amazing that LG kept their promise with updates for this phone, it's one of my favorite phones and I deeply miss LG's V series, having had a V10, V20, V30, V35, V50, and still using my V60). However, like many others, the update soft bricked my phone. It would only boot to black screen with flashing and disappearing navigation buttons, but no other controls or display. I didn't expect a full 13 update and all other updates have gone perfectly well, no issues at all, so I just went ahead and updated without doing a full backup (In the eternal words of Julia Roberts: "Big mistake. Big. HUGE!").

The way to fix the brick is to boot to qualcomm QDLoader 9008 mode and use FireHose to wipe the userdata partition and flash the engineering bootloader. Nothing else worked for me. I wanted to share a quick tutorial to help others fix their bricked V60 after the update.

Unfortunately this method WILL delete ALL of your data that is not on your SD card. I personally lost the last 6 months of photos and videos, which is pretty devastating but again 10000% my fault for not backing up. However, this update should not be something that bricks phones, so some blame has to be placed on LG/TMO for releasing an update that has bricked a good 50% of users' phones.

If you're not sure how you bricked your phone in the first place, you may need to take some additional precautions going forward. To prevent bricking your Android: Don't root your device. Avoid downloading anything that doesn't come from the official app store. Don't delete or alter important files. And always keep your phone inside a protective case.

When your Android phone is unresponsive or frozen after flashing a ROM or rooting incorrectly, you are told that the phone is bricked. The most scary thing will not only be device losing, but also the data erasing. However, what does a bricked phone really mean, and more importantly, how to fix a bricked Android phone?

When people say a phone is bricked, it can mean that the phone won't boot properly and turns into a totally useless brick, which is called a hard brick. Actually, there are two types of bricking: soft brick and hard brick.

Although the phone won't turn on properly, you can still see something after the phone boots up. In this way, your phone is soft-bricked and you can unbrick it in the correct way. The followings are the common symptoms of a soft-bricked Android phone:

If it is a hard brick, the phone won't turn on in any way or any form. You keep pressing the power button, but nothing happens. It seems like the phone is really dead. A hard brick rarely happens, but if unfortunately, it does, it leaves you no option but turns to repair service or go straight to your carrier's/manufacture's store.

In nine cases out of ten, the bricked phone is experiencing a soft brick, which is fixable with software methods. This is exactly what we provide here that will be effective for soft-bricked Android devices.

To fix a bricked phone, we here introduce FonePaw Broken Android Data Extraction, a piece of professional software that is capable of bringing bricked Android phone back to normal and recovering data from a screen-broken cell phone.

Then follow the instruction on the program to put your phone in Download mode. Then click "Start" to begin to unbrick the phone. The program will begin to download the proper recovery package and repair the phone. Your phone will restart automatically and be back to normal.

Now that you've learned how to fix an Android that is soft bricked with recovery software on Samsung phones, let's be aware of something you can do to fix a hard brick phone that won't turn on or Android phones of other models suffering soft brick.

If your phone is not under warranty, you can find a trustworthy shop and get it repaired by professionals. Once they bring your bricked phone back to normal, don't blame them if the data on it are gone. They can be retrieved with excellent data recovery software.

Above are two methods by which you can unbrick your android without a computer. There's another common way for all android phones. Try restoring your device to factory settings. You can search for the steps on this for your own phone model on the internet. Even though you will lose all your data including your media files and apps, but you can still get back the Android data after factory reset (opens new window) with a professional data recovery tool on a pc if the factory setting restoration works successfully.

Anyway, even though you can fix a bricked Android phone with FonePaw Broken Android Data Extraction on Samsung in some circumstances, treating a phone properly is way easier than fixing it. And to avoid losing important data on your phone, don't forget to back them up from time to time.

I'm currently trying to hard-brick my phone. Yes, you read right. The reason doesn't really matter. I tried flashing wrong recovery/ROM but no success. I could easily recover the smartphone afterwards through SP Flash Tool and MTK Droid. It's about a Gionee P6. I can't flash a kernel because it doesn't allow me, the process of flashing ending with error each time. Any suggestions?

It's an MTK device. You can easily hardbrick it using SP Flash tool.Go to Format tab. On Auto Format Flag , click on Format whole flash. This will format the eMMC memory leaving practically nothing, not even the preloader. Now click on Start. Power off the phone then connect it to the computer. Wait a few seconds. Done.

As you might remember from CSS, the typical range for  R:G:B lies between 0 - 255, and android handles it well. But there's a huge range of color space which android doesn't understand and converts it RGB.

If you directly apply this wallpaper then it will crash your phone, but if you take a screenshot of the image and then set it as wallpaper, it works fine. that's because, in gallery, android converts the photo to sRGB.

When you brick an Android, you make the device no longer usable. In essence, the device becomes an expensive paperweight. Under ordinary circumstances, you shouldn't attempt to brick your Android. However, if you're a developer, you can brick Androids so that you can then learn how to recover them or to test that your app doesn't make things worse when a user's Android accidentally bricks and cause permanent damage.

A brick (or bricked device) is a mobile device, game console, router, computer or other consumer electronic device that is no longer functional due to corrupted firmware, a hardware problem, or other damage.[1] The term analogizes the device to a brick's modern technological usefulness.[2]

Installing firmware with errors, or for a different revision of the hardware, or installing firmware incompetently patched such as DVD firmware which only plays DVDs sold in a particular region, can also cause bricking.

Hard bricked devices generally show few or no signs of life. A hard bricked device does not power on or show any vendor logo; the screen remains turned off or blank. Some of the major reasons for hard bricking include installing firmware not intended for the device, severe physical damage, interrupting a firmware flashing procedure, or following a flashing procedure incorrectly. 2351a5e196
