Chang-Yu Hsu | 許展語

Professional Flautist / Flute Teacher

Born in 1995, Chang-Yu Hsu is a Taiwanese flautist based in London, devoting himself in sharing classical and folk music from all over the world to audiences across the globe, especially endeavouring to make Taiwan "heard" by the world through his flute music.

Education

With a dissertation on Welsh flute music and a successful grauation recital, Chang-Yu was awarded a Master's degree with Distinction by Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2021. Thereafter, he moved to London and keeps pursuing his professional music career in performance and music education for flautists at all levels in London and all over the world online. Prior to the music masters, Chang-Yu also has a bachelor's degree in engineering at National Taiwan University, resulting in a methodical and systematic approach to teaching and practise.

Church Recital Series

With the passion for art and culture, Chang-Yu is currently working on building a network with the local community around the UK, bringing classical flute music and folk music from different cultures to the British audience. He collaborates with numerous churches and venues and arranges solo flute recitals. He has a wide selection of repertoires for the concerts, which has brought an enourmous amount of positive feedback from the local communities.

London City Orchestra

London City Orchestra is one of the top notch amateur orchestras in London, and Chang-Yu has been invited multiple times to play in their concerts as a deputy flautist/piccoloist since 2024.

Taiwanese Music

With the ambition for making Taiwan "heard" by the world, Chang-Yu endeavours to perform Taiwanese folk songs and classical compositions on the flute to audiences from across the globe. He aims to utilise the advantage of London being an international mega city, sharing his roots in Taiwanese culture through flute music, with a dedicated SoundCloud music page for the sounds from Taiwan.
