Dr. Changwook Kim is an Assistant Professor in the College of Physical Education at Kyung Hee University. His research demonstrates that sport transcends entertainment to become a powerful catalyst for community development and social resilience. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining sport management, spatial analytics, marketing research, and community science, he creates evidence-based insights that strengthen both business performance and social impact.
Dr. Kim's research examines how the sports industry contributes to community resilience and well-being from a spatial intelligence perspective. Using cutting-edge methods in GIS analysis, machine learning, and big data analytics, his work focuses on: (a) spatial clustering effects of sport industries on community economic and social resilience; (b) geospatial patterns of sport consumer behavior and community engagement; and (c) transformative sport business models that simultaneously drive commercial success and community development. His research directly informs strategic decision-making for sport organizations, guides evidence-based policy development for regional sport initiatives, and advances our understanding of how strategic sport development can build healthier, more resilient communities.
