Research Chair Professor of Chemistry, KNU. Division of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Natural
Sciences, Kangwon National University, Chun Cheon, 24341 Republic of Korea
Professor Chang-Hee Lee received his B.S., and M.S. diplomas in Chemistry from Kyungpook National University (Korea) in 1983. He did his doctoral work at the Arizona State University from 1983 to 1987. Then, he moved to California and worked as an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Thomas C. Bruice in the University of California at Santa Barbara for two years. He then joined the chemistry department of the Kangwon National University in Korea. He served as a full professor for 33 years until retiring in 2019. Then he was awarded a University Research Chair Professorship title where he works. His research interests are organic supramolecular chemistry, Molecular recognition, and porphyrinoid chemistry. He has authored and co-authored over 174 research publications and served as Associate Editor for "The Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society" (2008-2010), Guest Editor for "Supramolecular Chemistry" (2007), and is currently editorial board of the "Journal of Porphyrins & Phthalocyanines". He served as co-chair of the 8th International Conference on Porphyrins & Phthalocyanines (ICPP-8) held on Jeju island in Korea in 2012. He received the "National Research Achievement Award" from the Korean Chemical Society in 2008 and the "Most Cited Article Award" in 2003. He was invited to many international conferences as an invited speaker including ICPP, ISMSC, ISNA2015, MSMLG, Asian Core Program Lectureship Award from Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. Other than academics, He also served as the 50th President of the Korean Chemical Society for two years (2016-2017). Currently, he is working as a visiting scholar at the University of Texas Austin.
