"Our kid loves this school and always looks forward to learning new Wushu routines. SiFu Ding is well respected by his students. He coaches by example and explains the reason behind a specific form or move. His teaching style of showing and explaining help students quickly learn a form and retain what they're taught. We appreciate the life lessons in Respect, Discipline, Confidence, Focus, Courage, Teamwork, and Physical Fitness. Thank You SiFu Ding!" - Allison Chung
"Sifu Ding was an international Wushu competitor who is skilled in every area of Wushu. He stays current with the evolving style of Wushu so that his students can remain competitive with top athletes. In addition, he is patient with his students and dedicates his time to make sure that they all succeed. Through these skills and attributes, he is proficient in training national Wushu athletes along with teaching people who have never done Wushu before. The carpet is also nice to do Wushu on :)" -Ryan J.
"What more can you ask than to be trained by the best? Coach Ding Wei has won countless awards and was considered one of the most skilled wushu athletes ever to compete (both in China and internationally). He has experience coaching people of all ages and skill levels, and has a high skill level in a variety of styles (not just 'experience,' but competition level skill in all of them).
The training facility is one of the best in the Bay Area. A large padded carpet that is almost the exact same size as a modern competition ring is the training area, which is extremely rare among schools here.
Go for a free trial class and you won't regret it." – Jimmy Z

"I have 2 young kids (age 8 and 10) learning Chinese Wushu under the instruction of Coach Ding for the past several years attending classes once a week. Ding's teaching is excellent. Both of my kids are learning hand forms and weapons including staff and swords. The studio has large wall mirrors which aid learning. Ding is an excellent instructor and both of my kids enjoy Wushu very much. I highly recommend Champion Wushu." - GH
I might be the only adult (40's) beginner currently at this school. I started about 6 months ago. The students are primarily young people training for competition. Wushu may not be meant* for folks my age to start, but I believe it is one of the best martial arts to condition your body for strength, endurance, flexibility and agility. I continue at Champion Wushu to challenge myself and push my limits while getting the rare opportunity to learn from a world champion athlete and academically trained coach. At Champion Wushu, Coach Ding Wei gives meticulous, personalized training, regardless of if you are an advanced competing student or a total beginner. If you listen and practice, you will see and feel improvements.
For parents, this is an excellent place for your kids to learn - the level of student skill here is way above children's classes I've seen elsewhere.
For adults like me - I encourage you not to be afraid (or too embarrassed) to try it. You do have to be humble and train safely, listen to your own body, be ready to work hard and commit to learning. Coach Ding Wei is a very tough teacher but you will be glad you went.
Other notes - the studio is very spacious and clean. There is always free parking in a lot or along the street. When I was researching studios to start classes, another teacher from a different studio described Coach Ding Wei's wushu as "legendary."
"I have been a Traditional Kung Fu student under the tutelage of Coach Ding in Champion Wushu & Arts Center since September 2016. Champion Wushu is a really nice, neat and family oriented Tai Chi, Traditional Kung Fu and Wushu school. In the past 3 years, I have learned Chen Tai Chi, Bagua, Sword and Spear forms. Coach Ding is a Master who knows a lot of variety of forms. His skills are of high levels and he performs with much strength and grace. I found my passion in Kung Fu learning from Coach Ding.
In Champion Wushu you learn the basic drills, the forms and the reasons for the movements. These martial arts techniques prepare you well for Kung Fu competitions. Coach Ding is very compassionate about teaching. He critiques students' movements and advises how you can score high. I am so glad I am attending class here. Either you are a young kid, a teenager or an adult like myself, I would highly recommend you to join Champion Wushu." - Vivian T
"I am 70 years old I practice internal martial arts at champion Wushu center in Dublin ca I had learn martial arts from other masters before but master Ding is the real deal very patiently correct all my mistakes meticulously look no further if you want to learn from a real champion instructor and you can also learn Tai Chi and Gigong" - Albert Y
"We've been with Sifu Ding for about three years. When my son was 10 years old and showing some interests in traditional Chinese Kung Fu, I started looking for a studio around Tri-valley area. Fortunately, we were referred by a friend to Champion Wushu and my son was hooked right way.
Sifu Ding mixes fun and games with exercises that will strengthen their mind and muscles. Sifu Ding is such a role model for my son. It is my pleasure to sit on the side to observe the class. Watching my son and the other students' progress has allowed me to appreciate the art of Chinese Wushu more." - Linda L
"I've been taking the Tai Chi class here on Saturday for 2+ years. Master Ding Wei is very professional and patient to teach me each step even though my coordination is poor. Truly enjoy the class and it's fun!" - RS
"I have been taking Tai Chi lessons from Master Ding Wei at this studio for two years now. The studio is very large and very clean. Tai Chi is a gentle form of Chinese martial art and it is perfect for a retiree like me. After taking the Tai Chi lessons, I noticed that I have better balance and stamina. Qi Gong, which stresses the technique of breathing, taught at the same time by Master Ding Wei has a very calming effect for the body and mind.
Master Ding Wei is very patient and has a good teaching technique. He would lead the students first. Then he would watch the students and make corrections on the form and technique of the Tai Chi moves. Then a few new moves will be taught. It is all the repetitive practices that make the moves perfect. Si Fu (Master) himself is a superb Gong Fu master where not only he won competitions in the past but his students had all won various competitions as well.
No matter you just want to enhance your own health or get a better understand of the Chinese martial art, I strongly recommend you come to observe and try this studio, Champion Wushu & Arts Center, and in particular, see how well Master Ding Wei teaches different kind of wushu to different level of skills and ages.
Thumbs up to Master Ding Wei !!!" - James Y

Did I also mention there's a relatively flexible schedule to choose from?" - Mimi L
"I have been learning Tai-Chi with Shi-Fu Ding for 3 years. In the 3 years period, I learned 4 different Tai-Chi forms and 1 Tai-Chi Sword form. Shi-Fu Ding is very patient and provide very clear instructions when teaching us. Shi-Fu Ding always spent time to correct our movements and encouraging us to continue practice and move to higher level of performance. Shi-Fu Ding also trained many Champions. I strongly recommend Shi-Fu Ding if you like to learn Kung-Fu or Tai-Chi or simply try to improve your health." - David D
"This is an amazing school, especially for children. I grew up training in multiple martial arts and am a second degree black belt myself. I have trained in different styles, and was open to choosing one of many for my children. What I was looking for was a school that would teach the details, care more about the technique and the development of the body movement, foundational stances, and forms than the money, moving students along in belts/ranks just because they've been there, etc.
THE MOST IMPORTANT: The one thing I tell everyone about Sifu Ding Wei is that he has high expectations for his students. All ages. My daughter started when she was five and didn't get a trophy for listening skills, or a stripe on a belt because she could sit still like other schools my friends have their children at. My 5 year old daughter had to train for 2-3 months to earn her white belt. I loved that.
2 OTHER STORIES: Over the last few years my daughter has done a handful of shows and competitions. In her first, another parent watched is warm up and practice, and then asked how old my daughter was and was shocked to hear she was five years old and had only been training for half a year. She then watched our division, and saw everyone from our school. She pointed out her son and said she wished she lived closer because he had been training for two years and didn't have the technique or discipline that out school had. She just lived too far away (over an hour drive)
And I wanted to mention that while Sifu is strong and promotes focus and discipline, he has moments where he connects with the kids so well. Strong, strict, and then a smile cracks, a high five, a gentle laugh. He has great balance in what he does but maintains what I love the most - high expectations that my daughter and every student can grow, learn more, sharpen up, if they focus and train." - Timothy L
"If you are looking for a dedicated, passionate and skilled coach, then this is the Wushu School for you. I have been Coach Ding Wei's student for over 3 years now, and I could honestly not ask for a more knowledgeable coach who deeply cares about his students. Even though he is a world champion this does not stop him from constantly improving his coaching credentials and skill to provide better instructions for his students. My skill level would be know were near the height it is without his guidance. If you have a kid who is interested in learning Wushu, then this is the school for you!!!" - Nathan A
