At Chalo Chalaay, we are committed to providing a secure and transparent ride-sharing experience "By Students, For Students." This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle the information collected through our verified student network.
We only collect data necessary for the core functionality of our verification and ride-sharing services:
Student Identity Data: We collect images of your Student ID card. Our StudentVerificationService processes these images using OCR.Space and Google Vision APIs to verify your Name, Registration Number, CNIC, and University affiliation.
Biometric Verification Data:
Face Matching: We collect facial images to perform layout and color consistency checks against your ID card.
Voice Passkey: We collect voice recordings used as an authentication passkey for your account.
Real-Time Location: To facilitate ride-matching and live tracking, we collect your GPS coordinates during the ride cycle via our RealTimeRideService.
Financial Data: We track in-app wallet balances and transaction history for ride payments and top-up requests.
Verification (The 50% Match Rule): Your ID data is compared against our student database. A minimum 50% similarity score is required for automated verification.
Bidding & Negotiation: Your offered fare and negotiated prices are processed in real-time to facilitate the bidding system between passengers and riders.
AI Support (OpenRouter): Your chat messages are processed by our GeminiAIService using the OpenRouter API to provide instant assistance.
To maintain the app's functionality, we share data with the following providers:
Google Firebase: For secure database storage and user authentication.
OCR.Space & Google Vision: For processing Student ID information.
OpenRouter (AI): For processing support queries via the Gemini/Qwen models.
All ride and user data is protected by Firebase security rules to prevent unauthorized access.
Identity media is handled through secure cloud storage and is only accessible to platform administrators for verification purposes.
All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data is only shared with the service providers listed in Section 3 for the purposes of app functionality.
You can:
View your ride history, manage your wallet, and update your profile directly within the app.
Request full account deletion or access to your data by contacting us (see Section 7).
Opt out of location tracking by disabling location permissions in your device settings (note: core ride-matching features may not function).
This app is intended for university students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes through the app or via email.
