If you're stepping into the Web3 world and wondering how to keep your crypto assets safe while jumping between different blockchains, you've landed in the right place. OKX Web3 Wallet gives you a non-custodial, multi-chain solution that works across 80+ networks—think Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and more. One seed phrase, multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android), and you're good to go. Whether you're managing assets, exploring DeFi, or collecting NFTs, this guide walks you through setting up and managing your wallet on the web extension.
First things first: grab the extension from the Google Chrome Webstore. Once installed, click Connect wallet to kick things off.
You'll see two main options here—Create wallet or Import wallet. Let's break down both.
If you're starting fresh, select Create wallet. You'll then choose between creating a wallet with a seed phrase or connecting a hardware wallet (make sure your hardware wallet is plugged in before you start).
Here's the step-by-step:
Set a password to lock down your wallet. This password protects your wallet on this device, so choose something strong.
Click Confirm to finish the wallet creation process.
You'll be prompted to Back up now. Don't skip this. Enter the password you just created, and you'll see your seed phrase. Write it down. Store it somewhere safe. This seed phrase is your golden ticket—if you lose it, your assets are gone forever.
After noting down your seed phrase, click I've noted it down. The wallet will ask you to verify it by selecting the words in the correct order. This is just to make sure you actually wrote it down (and didn't just screenshot it and forget about it).
Once you verify your seed phrase, you're all set. Your wallet is created and ready to use.
Already have a wallet? No problem. Select Import wallet and choose your method: keyless wallet, seed phrase, or hardware wallet.
The OKX Web3 Wallet makes managing crypto across multiple blockchains incredibly straightforward. With support for over 80 networks and seamless DApp integration, you can access DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, and decentralized exchanges without constantly switching between different tools. Here's how it works:
Paste in your seed phrase or private key, or connect your hardware wallet.
Click Confirm.
Set a password for this device. Again, make it strong—you'll need it every time you access your wallet on this browser.
Once that's done, your wallet is imported and you can start managing your assets right away.
Important: Keep your seed phrase, private key, and password locked away. Never share them with anyone. If someone gets their hands on these, they can drain your wallet—and there's no customer support hotline to call for a refund in the crypto world.
Here's something you need to understand: the seed phrase is the master key to your wallet and all the accounts derived from it. With just your seed phrase, you can recover your wallet on any device and access assets across all 80+ networks that OKX supports.
Your private key, on the other hand, is network-specific. So if you imported a wallet using only a private key, you won't be able to create additional accounts under that wallet.
To view or back up your seed phrase or private key:
Go to Settings from the wallet menu.
Select Back up wallet.
Choose the wallet you want to back up.
Enter your password.
Your seed phrase or private key will be displayed. Write it down and store it securely.
Want to organize your assets better? You can create multiple accounts under the same wallet. All these accounts (also called derived wallets) will share the same seed phrase.
Here's how:
Click on your wallet name at the top.
Select Add account.
Your new account is created instantly.
You can also rename your wallets and accounts by selecting Edit wallet. This helps keep things organized, especially if you're managing different types of assets or using accounts for different purposes.
Note: If you want to remove an account, you'll need to delete the entire wallet from the device and re-import it using the seed phrase. Also, wallets imported via private key can't add new accounts.
A watch-only wallet is like a window into any blockchain address. You can monitor assets, transactions, NFTs, DeFi positions, and authorization records without having control over the funds. Think of it as a blockchain browser tailored to a specific address.
This is super useful if you want to keep an eye on another wallet's activity—maybe a friend's wallet, a project treasury, or even a whale you're tracking.
Here's how to set it up:
Go to Dashboard under your current wallet.
Select Add watch-only wallet.
Paste the wallet address or domain name you want to monitor into the search bar.
That's it. Now you can see everything happening in that wallet—balance, transaction history, NFT holdings, DeFi positions—all in one place.
Why use a watch-only wallet instead of a blockchain explorer?
You can track multiple addresses at once without juggling browser tabs.
Assets across all 80+ supported networks are aggregated in one view, so you don't need to switch between different blockchain explorers.
It's cleaner and more efficient for monitoring.
Important: A watch-only wallet is read-only. You can't send transactions or interact with DApps. To actually move funds, you'll need to import the seed phrase or private key, or use a hardware wallet for authorization.
The Discover page on OKX Web3 Wallet is basically a DApp directory. You can browse trending DApps, check out user activity, popularity rankings, and trading volumes. It's a good starting point if you're exploring what's out there in the Web3 ecosystem.
To explore:
Go to Discover from the wallet menu.
Click Explore DApps.
Search for specific DApps by name, or browse by category.
Whether you're looking for decentralized exchanges, yield farming protocols, NFT marketplaces, or new blockchain games, the Discover page helps you find them without digging through random websites.
