Yes, I know that some people dance Cha Cha on any bachata song they hear (I know at least one lead that always does that on socials), but I'm looking for songs where the musical connection is more emphasized.

"Cha Cha Cha" is a song by Finnish rapper and singer Krij, released on 17 January 2023, through Warner Music Finland.[2] The song represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 after winning Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2023, the Finnish national selection for that year's Eurovision Song Contest.[3][4] "Cha Cha Cha" became a fan favourite to win the competition, topping the public vote with 376 points, scoring the all-time second-highest televote points and finishing in second place overall with 526 points.[5]

"Cha Cha Cha" topped the charts in its native Finland, as well as in Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden. It also reached the top ten in eleven more countries including Austria, Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, becoming the first ever song in Finnish to reach the top ten of the UK Singles Chart.[6]

In an interview with the BBC, Krij stated that the song was about freedom. He would compare the song to when people face problems, saying "we all have problems... when the weekend comes, people want to forget all those sad things. And many times they drink a pia colada and get the courage to go to the dance floor... I don't care what other people are thinking. Am I good dancer [sic] or not? It don't matter! And I hope other people will think the same."[8]

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2023 was the twelfth edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), the music competition that selects Finland's entries for the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition consisted of a final on 25 February 2023, where seven entries competed.[9] The winner was selected by a combination of public votes (75%) and seven international jury groups from Australia, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom (25%).[10] The viewers had a total of 882 points to award, while the juries had a total of 294 points to award. Each jury group distributed their points as follows: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 points. The viewer vote was based on the percentage of votes each song achieved through telephone, SMS and app voting.[11]

"Cha Cha Cha" was drawn to perform third in the final. In the days leading up to the final, the song was considered a heavy favorite to win the contest, winning polls on various Eurovision fansites.[12][13] During the voting in the final, it was revealed that the song had received 72 jury points and 467 televoting points, earning a total of 539 points, winning by a margin of 387 points. As a result of its win, the song would go on to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.[3]

When asked why he believed he won, Krij stated that the uniqueness of both the song and the performance may have assisted in winning by a wide margin, saying "UMK has never seen a song or performance like this before... you can go far even if you are not the most skilled singer or rapper."[14]

Finland was placed into the first semi-final, held on 9 May 2023, and performed last in the show.[15] The song qualified for the final held on 13 May 2023, winning the semi-final with 177 points.[16] In the grand final, the song won the public vote with 376 points but came second overall with 526 points, short of Sweden's winning total of 583 points for Loreen's "Tattoo".[17]

The song has reached the number 1 position on Spotify's Viral 50 chart,[18] and number 7 position on its Top 50 chart.[19] It is the first Finnish-language song to reach Spotify's global top 200,[20] and it became Spotify's most listened Finnish-language song of all time, beating the song "Ikuinen vappu" by JVG, which held the previous record.[21] On the UK Singles Chart, "Cha Cha Cha" debuted at number six, the first Finnish-language song ever to reach the top ten.[22] The song reached 100 million streams on Spotify in August 2023.[23]

Maybe stop uploading posts related to this song or the singer? This is already the 20th post about this song or about the singer. Is he paying you to promote the song or something? Sweden, Finland and Norway are really stars on your blog!

In the final of the international competition, he received 526 votes, with TV viewers contributing 366 of those points. The song has, to date, been streamed over 3 million times on the music streaming platform.

As the credits rolled on Loreen's winning reprise of Tattoo for Sweden, Europe clearly wasn't quite ready for Eurovision to be over just yet. Official data shows that millions subsequently flocked to streaming services and download sites, to listen again (and again) to the songs they'd just discovered at the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Marco Mengoni's Due Vite, which represented Italy at the Contest, re-entered the Global chart at 193, having previously peaked at number 65 on the day following its Sanremo win in February. Israel's song, Unicorn by Noa Kirel, was a high new entry on chart, landing at number 95 the day after its eye-catching performance at the Grand Final.

Higher up on the Global chart, Norway's Alessandra climbed to number 28 with Queen of Kings. And there were two songs from the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 that managed to land in the Global Top 10: Finland's Krij at number 7, with Cha Cha Cha, and Contest winner Loreen from Sweden, with Tattoo charting at number 5.

Loreen's daily streaming tally of 4,275.290 plays didn't just rank her as the highest of the Eurovision songs that day, however. The impressive number of listens for Tattoo broke the record for the most streams ever achieved in a single day by a Eurovision song; a record previously held by Zitti E Buoni from Italian rockers Mneskin. The number of plays also set another record for Loreen - the highest number of streams ever achieved in a single day by a Swedish female artist.

Even more impressive, however, is the fact that interest in the songs has extended beyond the day after the Grand Final. In the latest official singles charts of various countries, released over the weekend, we can find Eurovision songs riding high in plenty of them. And perhaps understandably, it's the songs that scored highest in the public vote - songs from Sweden, Finland and Norway - that have been making the biggest impact on the charts across Europe.

In the UK singles chart, 4 Eurovision songs featured in the Top 10 posted on Friday 19 May. That's the most Eurovision songs that have been in the UK Top 10 simultaneously, in the 71-year history of the official UK singles chart. Queen of Kings by Alessandra charted at 10, the United Kingdon's own I Wrote A Song by Mae Muller was up to 9, Cha Cha Cha by Krij was in at 6 (the highest charting Finnish-language song of all time in the UK), and Loreen's Tattoo was a new entry at 2; out-peaking her other Eurovision winner Euphoria, which got to number 3 back in 2012.

Over in Italy, we got to witness yet more impressive stuff going on within the country's singles chart. In Italy, Eurovision songs from any country other than Italy are quite the rarity on the charts, with very few having made the official lists down through the years.

This year, however, three songs reversed those fortunes, as Tattoo entered at 24, Queen of Kings at 33, and Cha Cha Cha at 85. Tattoo now becomes the second-highest charting non-Italian Eurovision song of all time in Italy (after Rosa Linn's Snap), with Queen of Kings becoming the 5th-highest, and Cha Cha Cha the 9th-highest.

Whether you are looking for a dance song or a dance hit to fill the dance floor, there's something for everyone. Also, the Cha Cha slide is a great line dance even if Saturday Night Live made fun of it. (I have other line dance song suggestions as well.)

Dancers, have you ever found yourself standing on the sidelines for the first half of each song trying to figure out what dance is supposed to be done to the music? Like my students you might be wondering: How do I know what dance to do to a song?

Once you know if the song is slow or fast (or somewhere in between), you can then rule out some dances. For example, if the song is fast, then all the slower dances are out, such as Rumba, Nightclub Two Step and Slow Waltz. Or if the song is really slow, you can cross off Cha Cha, Salsa, East Coast Swing and Viennese Waltz.

I think that about covers it. I would do a slowish kind of lazy waltz. You can move a lot, but keep it more shifting weight on the one and three. Trying to hit all beats would be too fast and not fit the song. Country western dancers and Mexican dancers do this well. Just think waltz, but feel the music, with a little bit of viennese posture, but not the triple tempo. hard to put into words, but feel the music on this and it will come easy and should be quite romantic and beautiful for a wedding.

Hey Steve. Very beautiful song. The 6/8 time signature and tempo of this song lends itself more to a specific type of waltz called Viennese Waltz which is much faster than just standard Waltz. Viennese Waltz can be a bit more difficult to learn but there are certain figures such as the balance step or balance and box step in Viennese Waltz which a beginner could learn quickly. You may check with your teacher.

Hi Brandee, I have the reverse question. I am doing a cha cha with my instructor in the upcoming showcase. He keeps asking what song. I am only focusing on the dance. Any suggestion would be helpful. I have been dancing for 2 and a half years. This will be the fourth showcase. First time for cha. I want the tempo to be challenging and able to execute the steps correctly.

Hi Kandance: Thanks so much for sharing! How cool that you did a duet-style remix of the 2 versions of the song and choreographed a great Rumba to it. Congrats on getting married *and* rocking your first dance! 2351a5e196
