Depression Amongst Kenyan Men
I grew up listening to the older men in my life tell my brothers to man up and stop crying whenever they did; they were told it meant they were weak. From the moment they were young, they were put in this cocoon that made them feel like freely expressing their pain is forbidden. The most common pathway to suicide is depression, which afflicts two-thirds of all people who kill themselves. Depression on the other has no single cause, It can occur for a variety of reasons and has many different triggers. Many studies however show that depression in men is deeply rooted in their childhood.
While doing my research I came across a BBC Africa Eye documentary titled, 'Are Kenyan Men in Crisis'. From the documentary, it is clear that upbringing greatly affects how men deal with issues that may trigger depression thus resorting to suicide as the only way out.

Stop Motion Animation
I love the symbolic and ironic style that's been used in both animations and will adopt the same to tell my story.Â
