We know that lots of children have been working hard on their speeches, so a huge good luck to all of our brave candidates!
On Friday 2nd October at 9am, we are delighted to welcome Reception parents into school to learn more about how we teach phonics at Church Hill Primary School. We’re really looking forward to seeing you there. Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!
Please come to the front office, where you will be signed in and taken to the school hall.

Inclusion Matters
A moment to pause– parents and carers matter!
Life always feels so busy!
Sometimes it can feel like you are wishing weeks away and there never seems to be time to stop and pause, but these moments are so important.
Over the next few weeks, as the sun still struggles to break through the clouds, try to give yourself ten minutes in the day.
Hold a cup of tea, feel its steam and warmth in your hands.
Sit in the sun, listen for the birds, just breathe.
Take a line for a walk – let your mind wander.
We encourage our children to have some time to stop, feel and pause, so let’s try and model that stillness and calm. It is important for everyone!
National Poetry Day is next week!
This year’s theme is 'Wonder' - a chance to celebrate curiosity, imagination and the joy of discovering something new.
Talk together: What is something that makes you wonder? It could be something you have seen in nature, something about space, a question about the world, or simply something you’ve always been curious about.
Take turns sharing your ideas and asking questions such as "I wonder why…?”, “What if…?” or “How could…?”
Choose one of your 'wonder' questions and turn it into the first line of a poem.
Can you add a few more lines to create your own little poem together?
Individual & Sibling photos
Just a reminder that individual and siblings photos will be taking place on Tuesday 29th September. Please make sure all children arrive at school promptly and are in full and correct school uniform. If your child's class usually has PE on a Tuesday, please send them to school in full uniform (not PE kit) with their trainers in a bag.
On photography day, the school invites families with siblings not in the school, to a family session in the morning from 8:15am-9:00am. If you would like to have a family photo taken, please arrive at the schhol office between 8:15am - 9:00am, where you will sign in and then taken to have your photos taken.
School Council Election
The School Council Elections are taking place Friday 2nd October morning. The Art Room will be transformed into a polling station for the day, where all the children will have a chance to vote for their chosen class candidate. We are very excited and will reveal the outcome of the votes on the same day. Good luck to all who have put themselves forward.
Alongside the school council we are looking to elect an environmental team. The children were made aware of this during assembly and if those who are interested in volunteering should have picked up an application form from Alex. Please speak to your children about this and encourage them to fill it in over the weekend.
